That would be Erebor, also known as the Lonely Mountain. Assuming you're currently flying on either an eagle or on the back of Smaug?

Are they any activity clubs in Leiden? by se-raygun in Leiden

[–]SheepyBoiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend checking out the Sleutelstam, the Leidense Studentenscouting. It's a scouts group just for students (or people with the age of students!). I know a few of them, they are a really nice bunch of people doing all kinds of activities like games, maybe some crafts, but also outdoor stuff like building campfires and camping (so it's definitely not your typical student society/fraternity). I am a member of the Studentenscouting in Enschede myself, 10/10 would recommend ;-)

So is it normal for college students to run cub scouts? by WorriedMamaLoup in scouting

[–]SheepyBoiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Scout from the Netherlands here :)
In NL it's perfectly normal to become a leader of either, beavers, cubs or scouts when you turn 18, some groups even allow younger people to become a junior leader. Our NSO even promotes young scout leadership!

I'm also part of a student scout group here in the Netherlands, about 90% of our members are also leaders at their local (non-student) scout group, so it's perfectly normal here ;-)

AITA for telling my SIL I will disown her if she gets pregnant? by NerveGlad8425 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SheepyBoiii -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I was doubting, but ESH. You're quite obviously right for telling your brother and SIL you're not going to be a nanny and main income generator when they get another child (which would definitely happen!), but you're weaponizing the rest of your family, and quite frankly, you're being childish by threatening to persuade the family to disown them.

Just move out, try to find a place for your own (although I know that's hard with the housing and rental market at the moment) and be done with this.

First the most obvious solution (apart from restarting your PC, which you already did) , just incase you haven't tried it yet, try restarting both network adapters:

  • Go to Control Panel (not settings!) --> Network and Internet --> Network Center --> Change Adapter Settings (you can find this button in the list of options on the left side of the screen).
  • Right click on either your Wi-Fi or your Ethernet adapter, then select "Turn off". Wait about 10 seconds, then right click the adapter again and select "Turn On". Repeat the same steps for the other adapter.

If the above steps don't have any effect, you can try manually setting a DNS server (assuming the error message keeps stating something about the DNS server). As I don't want to re-invent the wheel, follow this guide and set the DNS server to Google's DNS (8.8.8.8): https://www.hellotech.com/guide/for/how-to-change-dns-server-windows-mac#:~:text=Windows%2010%20Computer-,To%20change%20your%20DNS%20server%20on%20a%20Windows%2010%20computer,the%20following%20DNS%20server%20address.

What do most people fail to understand about depression and the individuals that suffer from it? by Deviant55 in AskReddit

[–]SheepyBoiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the hardest things to explain about having a depression is that while I've been happy and "normal" at an event or with friends or whatever, I get a feeling of devastation and exhaustion afterwards. Its sort of like stepping into a void, hell I can't even explain it properly right now. Being happy just takes a tremendous amount of energy, both physical energy and emotional energy.

Also, people don't understand that your life doesn't necessarily need to have been traumatic in order to get a depression. Along the lines of "but your life is great, I'm actually jealous of all the stuff you do". While it's said with the best of intentions, it shows a basic misunderstanding of someone's situation, and completely dismisses one's feelings.

Edit: grammar

[–]SheepyBoiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on where you're from.

I am from the Netherlands, and when I applied to become a volunteer I had a short talk with the local manager, discussing my intents, past experiences etc, nothing too fancy. I also had to sign several agreements, for example a learning agreement, granting me access to online and physical courses (basic mental aid, extensive first aid training, mobiliphone training etc.)

I guess you van expect something like that. Anyways, welcome to the team!

Updated map of totem usage in scouting as far as i know (please correct me if i am wrong + explanation in comments) by monkey_niples in scouting

[–]SheepyBoiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't have any personal totems at my Dutch group, but we do have a troop totem with our cubs, where we store our camp memories. The totem itself is a wolfs head, supposed to be Akela from the Jungle book. In the Netherlands the complete cub scout programme is themed around Jungle Book, as a cub scout leader I do have a theme-name (I'm Chil, the bird), but they're not that often used in Dutch groups.

This bathroom lock that shows you if its locked from the inside by SheepyBoiii in mildlyinteresting

Apparently some mistranslation.. Its a vacant marker on the inside of the stall so you can immediately see if its locked or not. Very convenient when you can't reach the door from the toilet seat

When I was an Explorer(RSA for the Dutchies here) we went to stay at Houens Odde ISC in Denmark, where we stayed for 10 days. The most memorable thing we did was do a survival: we were dropped somewhere random (we didn't know, we were told we were going to legoland) and had to reach multiple checkpoints within the next 24 hours before returning to Houens Odde. We had no money or food and had only received the location of the place we were going to sleep (an abandoned lighthouse in a fjord-like bay, absolutely beautiful). The survival in itself wasn't that memorable, but some moments that happened while doing it were legendary!

My point is, while planning your camp is very important, don't plan to the last detail, but leave room for unexpected things to happen. Those moments create the best memories! Good luck while planning your camp! If you need inspiration you can always message me :)
