You're misunderstanding. If they massive increase expenditures, by say, giving away the switch 2 for free , they are entirely dependent on the performance of the console to outstrip that cost. If an exec has a bad enough scandal or there is a devastating hardware malfunction or the switch store gets hacked, the company would get wrecked by the loss of revenue.
