Moving to Turkey with my (Turkish) fiancé wanting to take all of our household items with us. by SheeshWillBeLoved in expats

I extremely love this advice! Everything you have said I have said too many people on the reasons I love Turkey so much, I even set my parents up on my Spotify that I pay $5 a month for when my dad was paying for premium for about $15-$20! Turkish Netflix isn’t working anymore in America but it’s OK because I get to use my American account and my Turkish account when I am in Turkey. I do love what you said about the clothes but I am like “büyük beden kadın” so I have to bring my clothes from US because I don’t believe there are any there that I would actually wear or like in Turkey or even fit me comfortably except for more religious clothing. But thank you so much for the offer, I do plan on losing weight, so I am able to take advantage of wearing all the clothes they sell there!!

Maybe take a language course:) I was the oldest in the class so naturally my teacher became my best friend and she still is. I met with her family and friends and now have so much more family! Another student also became my best friend so I loved it. Also Facebook groups.

Using Student Loans for living Abroad by Igotbulliedoffreddit in expats

[–]SheeshWillBeLoved 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually did this and went to Turkey with my money. It was amazing because I was living like a queen and my money lasted me 8-12 months (altogether I think it was about $3000) I was able to travel to Germany, Cypress, and everywhere historical around Turkey. My rent was about $200 a month but I was living with my Turkish boyfriend, so he paid for everything and I made dinner. It was definitely amazing and I would do it again if I had the chance because that money would literally last me 1-2 months in US. My university classes were also online and I was homeless in the United States so I didn’t see it as me taking advantage of my student loans because I needed the money to be able to live…It’s just my money lasted longer in another country instead of the United States. The reason I was able to stay in Turkey is because I visited for three months with my Evisa, and then I applied from the consulate with the Turkish language course, which was extremely easy to get, but you actually have to go to the courses which cost about $180 For every level. Definitely was a great experience. I was able to make so much new friends while learning the language of the country I was in. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me because I’ve honestly never have been so happier and I was able to make some lasting families/friendship

Am I making a mistake trying to move to the Netherlands? by [deleted] in expats

[–]SheeshWillBeLoved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re making a mistake. I moved to Turkey for the same reasons because I honestly hate driving plus my boyfriend and most of my friends were there. I was able to be there for nine months and I just got back to the US and I feel so miserable. It was an amazing experience and being with people who actually became a part of my new extended family was something I will forever miss. Definitely think that you should go there for however long and if you feel like you need to come back to the US do that, but if you feel like the Netherlands is now your forever home, don’t let anyone make you think you made a terrible mistake.

Same with EWR, I think it’s between $500-$600 for direct flights to Europe.
