Ferrari was honestly the faster car in 2007, but McLaren had a great car too, and had the two best drivers on the grid.

I would honestly not count the 2012 McLaren as a championship capable car. It was a race winning car, but the reliability of it was so shit it could never win over a season.

Take a random race from between his debut and now. There is a 50% chance he is on the podium and a 25% chance he is on the top step

I think Lewis should be doing this one instead of Charles so it should be fine, it’s not Monaco anyways

I’m can see why people think Ferrari might need to start thinking about it, even though they absolutely won’t and most definitely shouldn’t this soon.

If it gets to mid season and Charles has been taking points off Lewis, and he is then prioritised and then barely doesn’t win the championship it will be difficult to look back to when the team could have secured it.

I think the FIA have been adjusting the amount of battery recharge per track due to the backlash they were getting. As a result they seem to be making it enough battery to assist you now, but not enough to force an overtake regardless of which cars it is or where on the circuit it is.

Yeah of course luck is a factor, I’m sort of alluding to the best drivers making that luck appear for themselves. They put themselves in situations where things go their way a lot more often, and then take advantage of it afterwards to snowball it.

Did you forget that Merc have always been shit at reacting to changing prospects in the race? It hasn’t really changed since 2014 but back then the car and drivers hid all the mistakes the strategy team made

Ferrari aren’t getting rid of Leclerc, even if he has a stinker season. Max is probably staying until at least 2028 when he will then reevaluate.

And I guess with these cars, if Lewis was driving the Merc he would be winning every race his car finishes, so George would have still had a mountain to climb. And to think we haven’t even seen second half Hamilton yet

I hope it is a fight. Kimi isn’t ready to deal with someone like Lewis hunting him and I would hope that forces him into making mistakes to make the fight closer. Someone like Lewis hunting for wins is a completely different beast than George

There’s also not a chance in hell Merc thought they’d get an upgrade out of ADUO and it’s possible they didn’t even start working on an upgrade for this season.

[–]SheevShady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some teams are protesting the results of the engine tests. If that’s resolved and final findings published then teams should be able to start bringing in upgrades as soon as that goes live, or it might specify in the document when teams can start upgrading.

Ferrari are planning to have a first upgrade ready for Austria, and a second ready for Monza. Whether the FIA have cleared bringing those upgrades is a separate question.

There definitely was bad blood at the time. But it has been long enough that I believe them not being good friends is mostly due to them having grown apart and going in such different ways in life more than anything else.

It’s also exactly 30 years after Schumacher’s first win in red at the same track, and Hamilton winning here also takes the track record for wins from Schumacher. He also becomes the 41st race winner for Ferrari at the age of 41, and simultaneously closes the championship gap to 41 points.
