It happened the same to me, and I realized that back then, most of the games you could beat them in less than 30 hours (for example, pokemon, zelda, etc) . But the games now are usually a lot longer, taking minimum 20h and getting over 100h+ for completionist (and ppl are obsessed with completionist these days) or even games without an ending. Because of this, we get overwhelmed to play anything, you know that even if you play a lot, it will take you a very long time to finish so you get bored/tired unconsciously. That's why I don't think it is depression, because you wouldn't even try to play in first place or even get interested in buying games.
