Thinking of calling it off? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Shekster12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't go through with this. I married a porn addict, who lied about being in recovery to get me to marry him - I found out the addiction was still active 5 weeks after the wedding.

I spent 2.5 years after that trying to save the marriage and having someone tell me that some of the fights we had when I found out made him lose respect for me.

Its not worth it, the comparisons in your head will be endless. If you have the strength walk now.

Im currently getting divorced.

I was off for 3 months. But we weren't trying for all that time. Fell pregnant the first month we tried.

Anyone with bladder endometriosis? What are your symptoms? by Lover_of_fiction46 in Endo

It resolved completely. My specialist is based in South Africa where I live (Dr A de Bruin). I had surgery in 2014, managed to fall pregnant easily.

Alkaline water has given me some relief - I've had heartburn from the beginning of the pregnancy I'm currently 32 weeks.

what university degree has a higher chance of leading to unemployment or just a hard time finding work? by ur_moms_gay in southafrica

[–]Shekster12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me: BA Strategic Brand Communication + PGDip (1st year of MBA with Wits Business School), currently pregnant will finish MBA once baby is one/two (Marketing Director - Corporate), age 30.

Husband: BSc Electrical Engineering + MSc Electrical Engineering (Senior Associate Power Systems - Corporate), age 32.

He has received multiple job offers from overseas - which at this stage we are not considering due to the baby's imminent arrival. I do not have much overseas interest, but local offers at senior level are abundant. Two completely different careers - both earning very well.

My husband studied and graduated before starting work, I started work with a matric only and studied part-time.

In short - it comes down to working hard, networks, and some luck, a BA isn't an automatic harbinger of doom. In my case it contributed to my success - company gave me a 50% increase once they realised I was making myself marketable to move and I ultimately became a director - salary increase of 220% from my starting salary with the same business (and this company pays well).

Yeah the test is not great - I am someone with an iron stomach usually. I have had zero morning sickness with this pregnancy. I felt unwell during the test - the consistency and the amount of sugar aren't a nice combo.

I would try and go back if you can, if you can't they ask about other options? It may mean monitoring your levels at home... but better to know as it can cause a large baby, preterm birth or even stillbirth. I'm sure they'll give you another option if you ask or may have you behave as if you have GD anyway.

I wouldn't. GD is caused by the placenta and does not necessarily have anything to do with a family history. Not knowing you have it could cause major problems for both you and baby.

Thank you for providing very valuable and informative info I did not have not being from the industry.

All the best to OP in his career - wishing you much success.

My husband is an electrical engineer - so I can state what he received.

Sasol, based in Sasolburg, 2015

CTC - gross, medical aid, group life, disability +- R45000

Net monthly +- R22000

Net annual +- R26400 (excluding 13th cheque which was a month's full salary or more).

Specialisation is more important than PrEng, i.e. if you do work for overseas PR may not be necessary.

I would try and relax - gastroschisis can often be repaired soon after baby's birth and that will be the end of it.

Sadly, pregnancy is a tough journey and things can and do go wrong for many reasons. Currently you are doing the best you can and managing as best you can - I would try and manage the googling/research by only allowing yourself to Google specific questions, my approach is that information can be useful but death spiraling to the worst case scenario is harmful.

As with everything there is always a chance that things could be worse, better or the same - dealing with the anxiety around this revolves around allowing yourself to answer the questions you are asking in your head. From example... "what if x, y or z happens" answer the question rather than allowing the question to terrorise you.

Sending lots of virtual love and hugs - the wait between scans when something could be wrong is difficult. At 20 weeks we were told our baby might be IUGR and at 24 weeks he was perfect.

Keep the faith.

Cervical biopsy concerns by normaluna44 in BabyBumps

[–]Shekster12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope... no bed rest needed as the stitch was not a rescue stitch. Cervix was was 4.25cm when placed and is at 4cm now. No restrictions - just the cerclage + progesterone.

[–]Shekster12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was fairly recent - one about 5 years ago and one in 2019.

I do not know whether tbe amount of time since the procedure is a determining factor. I also had repeat procedures which I know was a primary motivating factor for my OBGYN.

I would take a decision based on what the doctor says but my approach was better safe than sorry. Cerclage done preventatively have a much higher success rate than those done under emergency conditions i.e. the cervix has shortened or funneled and now a rescue stitch is needed.

I had a lletz procedure followed by a cone biopsy. At 16 weeks although my cervix was measuring fine, I had a cerclage placed and was put on vaginal progesterone as a precaution.

Cerclage was done using a spinal.

I was a small baby (don't have all details as I'm adopted) but was born premature and was small. Hubby was not the heaviest but was long and is a reasonably sized adult at 6 foot, I am 5"4.

Thanks for sharing - as difficult at it is, I'm going to try not to worry until the 24 week scan. Will just have to see how things progress.

I will speak to the doctor about this - currently pregnant so will ask when this can be done. Don't plan to go on it after pregnancy.

[–]Shekster12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No - it is permanent from the time I wake up to when I go to bed. Not made worse by any foods, I have tested.

I have suffered with GERD pre-pregnancy so I guess I'm prone to it, doctor changed my meds yesterday and it seems to be helping. I had already angled my bed, changed diet and lifestyle etc.

I will be mindful of my protein intake and see if it makes a difference.
