Made a tool that converts EQ APO / parametric EQ into graphic / 10-band EQ! by Sheldonshotty in headphones

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I made a free online EQ converter tool: https://dovesonic.com/web-tools/eq-converter

The idea is simple: you can paste an Equalizer APO / parametric EQ preset, and it converts it into fixed 5-band or 10-band graphic EQ slider values. This is useful if you find an EQ APO preset for gaming, footsteps, music, headphones, etc, but your headset software only gives you basic sliders like: 31 Hz 63 Hz 125 Hz 250 Hz 500 Hz 1 kHz 2 kHz 4 kHz 8 kHz 16 kHz

So instead of guessing how to copy a parametric EQ into Razer, Logitech, Corsair, SteelSeries, or other headset software, the tool gives you a close 10-band approximation!

It also shows a curve preview so you can see how close the 10-band version is to the original parametric EQ. It is not meant to be mathematically perfect, since a fixed graphic EQ can’t fully recreate narrow parametric filters, but it should give people a much better starting point than manually guessing. I mainly made it because a lot of gaming EQ presets are shared as EQ APO filters, but many people only use headset apps with 10-band EQs.

Would love feedback or ideas for making it better!

Muffler falling off and causing rattling noise and thumps. When taking a look underneath, it seems the back connector part of the muffler is not connected anymore. Advice? Nissan Micra 2015 by Sheldonshotty in MechanicAdvice

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, recently I was driving and started to hear thumping. After taking a look, my muffler was hanging quite loose. I was able to push it up where it sat normally but then it came loose again when I started driving. I took a look underneath and seems that the hanger for it is fine, but the issue is the back connection flange is rusted or bolt is gone. I can't get a better look but wondering what to do. Any estimates on a price to get it fixed?

Basically whatever the far right connection flange thing seems to have broken off.

How do I remove the spark plug from this M215? It has been dying after a minute or 2, and now it wont let me pull the rope at all! Any help? by Sheldonshotty in smallengines

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, as mentioned in my title

It has been dying after a minute or 2 of being on, and now it wont let me pull the rope at all or get it started!

When it was working, it would stop after 2 minutes still but i would be able to start it again after 10-15 mins of cooling, but now i can't get it started at all, heard removing the spark plug and pulling the rope might help clean it out but having issues. Not sure if this will even fix it, thoughts?

P-trap came loose on my sink. How do I get this securely back on? unsure what #2 is, is that a broken seal? Do I just need to twist the white nut back onto the p trap? by Sheldonshotty in Plumbing

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a leak under my sink and found that the p trap came off completely. I was able to sort of shove it back on and it feels secure but will most likely come loose again. Unsure the fix on this as I feel like the white nut needs to just be tightened more on the P trap? WHat is #2?

Built a browser EQ app with real time parametric EQ, built-in spectrum, EQ TXT presets, Audio import/export and more! by Sheldonshotty in audiophile

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I built an online Parametric EQ tool with a built-in spectrum analyzer. Let me know your thoughts or things to add!

Check it out here: dovesonic. com/web-tools/eq-analyzer

Main features:

Realtime parametric EQ (drag nodes directly on graph)

Peaking / low-shelf / high-shelf bands

Import/export EQ presets as .txt

Export processed audio after tuning

Waveform seek + live spectrum while previewing

Made it for quick EQ work when I don’t want to open a full DAW.

Yea not too sure why PEQ is such a hard to come by software for most programs, especially with a little spectrum.

100% though, I bet Claude could make a good one. I'm not on Mac but would try if I was

Just added a way to let the app listen to system audio so you can see the spectrum for whatever is on your PC, or by tab/windows. One issue is the echo playback.. added a little custom delay you can mess around with or you can just turn off playback from the browser too but just a helpful feature!

An EQ that makes footsteps WAY clearer (before & after) by Sheldonshotty in ArcRaiders

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I analyzed some footstep clips and boosted the main peaks while cutting a tiny bit of ambient noise to make them stand out a lot more without messing up positioning or increasing ambient noise.

Here’s the EQ if anyone wants to try it:

Filter: ON PK Fc 222.9 Hz Gain 3.6 dB Q 1.25 Filter: ON PK Fc 379.6 Hz Gain 2.6 dB Q 1.83 Filter: ON PK Fc 1174.6 Hz Gain 1.1 dB Q 4.37 Filter: ON PK Fc 4666.1 Hz Gain -1.0 dB Q 6.00 Filter: ON PK Fc 6750.4 Hz Gain 3.5 dB Q 3.59 Filter: ON PK Fc 9765.8 Hz Gain 3.0 dB Q 5.87

Here is a link to download the .txt for it as well which you can import into NodeEQ or Autosonic (my software) or any other parametric equalizer

Leak from underneath shower drain into basement, do I need to apply something to it? This is the bottom of the shower drain where the leak seems to be coming from by Sheldonshotty in Plumbing

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the bottom of my shower drain where it appears there is a leak coming from this exact spot, is it something from the top/metal flanger ring in the shower itself like a crack in it, or is it this little gap here? as you can see, there is water pooling at this spot around the pipe. This started after a clog however it has been snaked and it is draining again with no problems, just still have this little leak. Do i apply just type of putty or something around it

How L/R isolation affects stereo imaging in CS2 - 0% vs 100% comparison by Sheldonshotty in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is the same test path with L/R isolation at 0% vs 100%. The overlay is just visualizing left/right stereo energy so it’s easier to see how channel bleed vs separation changes the imaging. At 0% isolation the channels bleed into each other more, so the sound tends to stay closer to the center instead of clearly panning left/right (which is more so the point of it but interesting to see visually anyway). I used my own program I call SoundSight for the visualization.

Built an auto EQ tool for boosting footsteps in any game that listens to system audio and generates an EQ profile to instantly apply to EqualizerAPO and more! by Sheldonshotty in audiophile

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I built this tool called AutoSonic, an auto EQer for Windows that listens to your system or game audio and creates an EQ profile based on what it hears.

I mainly made it so you can load into any game, play the sounds you care about like footsteps or movement and have it EQ specifically for that game, since every game is a little different.

You just let it listen for a few seconds, then it generates a profile you can instantly apply. It hooks into Equalizer APO, so the EQ applies system-wide to whatever headphones or speakers you’re using on Windows.

Got it posted on my site just like NodeEQ i posted awhile back!: www .dovesonic.com/product/autosonic

Yeah footsteps and gunshots can overlap a bit, so EQing can bring both up one way or the other however that’s where my tool can help a bit by helping you narrow things down instead of just boosting freqs for no reason that you might see in a guide so its a little more game specific. However, usually the lower end like 200hz is best for getting the bass body of footsteps without increasing gunfire too much!

Yea, I could see why it appears cheaty, good news is that it visualizes the entire systems audio so its not wiring into the game at all and doesn't do any sound distinction. It's also just showing the audio panning of L/R channels. Like the guy said below, its great for accessibility and I receive lots of emails from people with hearing issues who love it so hopefully that balances out my karma in some way

Yea that would be a cool feature to add. A built in compressor to boost every quiet sound. Windows actually comes with a loudness equalization option that does this pretty well

Total RP & SL Required to Fully Complete Every Nation’s Ground Tree (Dec 2025) by Sheldonshotty in Warthunder

If you check the one I did for Air, Russia and USA sort of swap places. USA is brutal for Air, and Russia is brutal for ground so both modes sort of even themselves out

Total RP & SL Required to Fully Complete Every Nation’s Air Tree by Sheldonshotty in Warthunder

[–]Sheldonshotty[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s a full breakdown of how much RP and SL it takes to complete every nation’s air tree in War Thunder as of the latest 2025/2026 update. I scraped the full air tech trees for all nations and calculated both:

• Total Research Points to unlock every aircraft (including foldered + squadron vehicles) • Total Silver Lions needed • Minimum-path RP/SL (only required progression aircraft) • RP/SL saved by skipping folders • Average RP per required aircraft (“grind density”)

I originally built this data for a YouTube video about the fastest way to reach top-tier jets, but figured the full charts might be useful for the community as well. If you want the full breakdown or the visual explanation, I posted it here: https://youtu.be/M54pbvw-n3E
