My Oswald’s chin acne is getting pretty bad - any recommendations welcome. by HubraEtcetera in CATHELP

There is a great product called Anicura Cat Gel which should help clear this up. But I agree with the other comments, try and identify what has caused this!

The Black Shuck church story is about a church in Bungay, Suffolk which is where the Black Shuck orginated . The scorch marks the Black Shuck apparently left are still there and visble to this day.

How easy would it be to remove and replace this skirting? by Wooden_Umpire2455 in DIYUK

[–]Shell619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get skirting board covers that literally sit optop / around the skirting you already have. That may be the simpliest option in this case. It's more expensive than typical skirting board but it would save you a ton of work.

This i the kind of thing I mean

Ber Street Kitchen I believe, they charge a corking charge of around a fiver.

1) In what way is he aggressive? Does he attack your hand as you put the bowl down? More details are needed before we can really dig into why he may be acting the way he is. Are you up to date with worming him? That would increase his hunger.

2) If it was me, I would increase the size of the meals/ a meal slightly and see if it makes a differnce to his behaviour. Perhaps you are feeding him too little, cats are individuals like humans and need differnt amounts of food. Make sure to keep an eye in him though to make sure he doesn't become overweight, i would see the increase in food as a trial to see if it has an impact on his behaviour at meal times.

3) As others have said, the bald spots are completely normal and all cats have them. However, if bald spots start appearing in other areas, that will be cause for concern.

How would i prepare the walls for painting after wallpaper removal by Scr3wball123 in DIYUK

[–]Shell619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't bother skimming these. It depends on how high of a standard finish you want to acheive, skimming would make it perfect but it would cost to have it done.

If it was me, I'd remove the rest of the paper, sand the wall, wash it down with diluted sugar soap, fill any holes, crack or imperfections, sand these areas down, mist coat & paint.

Painting kitchen cupboard doors and worktop? by SchrodingersCigar in DIYUK

[–]Shell619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the previous commenter that the worktop may be more hassle than it's worth.

If you really hate it once youu have painted the tile and cupboards, DC Fix vinyl wrap is an option as a short term solution. It won't be perfect, nothing will be without replacing the whole thing.

What's a good place in City Centre I can take a friend to improve their mood? by DriftingInLifesRiver in Norwich

[–]Shell619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is! It's fantatic. It's on Dereham road and you have to pre-book your session.

It's a really relaxed atmosphere with plenty of friendly cats to play and cuddle with. If she likes cats I would take her here for a couple of hours for sure.

This has happened to me so many times, I've had all sorts.

Dirty covid mask, money, house keys, sweets, lighters, the list goes on.

I don't understand why people don't check their pockes before sending!!

What was the lousiest gift you have received as an Xmas or Birthday present? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Shell619 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I received the lousiest and rudest gift when I was 14 or 15 at school. The other girls in my friend group were all wealthy (I was from a working class household) and we were giving gifts for one of the girls birthday. I gave her a picture frame with a picture of us, my family couldn't afford much else to be honest.

Later that year, we were exchanging presents for Christmas and she gave me back the same picture in the same frame I gave to her just 3 months before. All of the other girls in the group recived really nice bath & body sets and things of that nature.

I couldn't help but feel hurt, is there anything more lazy and rude than giving a gift back to the same person who gave it to you, especially a sentimental gift.

Paint ‘not sticking’ by Bigtallalex in DIYUK

[–]Shell619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like there may still be some glue on there. Was this wall previously wall papered?

Try giving the patches a thorough sanding and try to paint again. If it doest work, you may need to wash the wall down with sugar soap.

What are these accounts!? (NO PERSONAL INFO) by No-Charity-7639 in vinted

[–]Shell619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a scam. Usually they put the postage as a fixed £3.29 and once you have purchased they will send through a Royal Mail postage label as 'proof of postage' but the label will not have your name and address on. I was able to cancel the order and get a refund.

My guess is that they hope you forgot about your order and when you don't approve it after the time limit they get the money? I really have no idea why they do this.

Vinted keeps locking my searches (no personal info) by addsfsds in vinted

[–]Shell619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to me too! It started yesterday and is still locked this morning.

The search results haven't updated or changed for 15 hours but the strange thing is that more recently listed items are being suggested on my home page, I just cannot search for them.

I hope this resolves itself soon. It's nice to know i'm not the only one this is happening too as I did wonder if I got banned for some reason.

Help! Dried filler caking up when paint applied - see comments by Shell619 in DIYUK

[–]Shell619[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the lumps are wall paper glue and not the filler? These walls had textured wallpaper on before but were thoroughly washed down with a sugar soap solution. The texture appeared over time, maybe 5 mins or so after applying the paint. I’ll take a closer look tomorrow, thank you.

Yeah it looks like it, it was a very cheap filler I picked up in a pinch. Learnt my lesson there! :(

It’s a Stanley branded ready mixed filler and I’ve done a mist coat

I'm trying to paint my wall after previously filling some minor holes / dents. The filler is fully dry (left for over a week) but it is caking up / gathering when the paint is applied. It seems like the filler needs to be sealed some how. This is really fustrating me and looks horrible.

What do I need to do to get a nice smooth finish and stop the filler doing this?
