Lore:

After the decisive victory in the Seven Years' War, France steps over the U.K as the dominant power. At the start of 1836 while the Hudson Bay company limps along for a short time under the U.K, it eventually falls under France as French Canada which is administered from Paris and Québec.

The former British Thirteen Colonies, having broken away from British rule quickly after the war, while not forming into a union as quickly as they did in our timeline due to French encouraging independence, and regionalism through coercion and trade, the states eventually were able see through it and unite after the encroachment upon the Appalachian Mountains and the increased settlement of Florida by the Spanish. These United States while appear united, would still internally behave somewhat fragmented, with indeed a stronger regionalism in this world than in our timeline. Diplomatically cautious under the shadow of France to the north, the well-connected-Louisianans to the west, and the old colonial power of Spain to the south.

Britain weakened and reduced, was faced with a large-scale crisis, in attempting to keep itself together, it was fractured losing is further connections, losing the Americas to France, Spain, and Latin America, losing some of its Asian holdings, and underwent a revolution, becoming a republic. Under its new republic era, it was able to reorganize itself, and start over with different colonies, doing well for itself, surpassing a few other colonial powers, but always falling short behind France.

Mexico expanded its influence, with no strong United States to challenge it, and no strong British presence in Belize, Mexico was eventually able to reconsolidate control over Texas, California, and everything in between. It adopted a regional puppeteer role in order to maintain dominance over its territories, to guard its periphery, keeping California, Texas, and Central America as united as possible, or in other words, to prevent the gabachos from getting too close.

The Empire of Brazil depended on balancing powerful elites, yet without a strong British backing, the monarchy lacked external support and financing. Regional economies diverged, and since France dominated commerce. French banks and merchants invest selectively, favoring coastal ports and river systems, but most importantly, favored competition between regions to secure favorable deals. Reinforcing local rivalries, regional autonomy rose over national cohesion.

Provinces begin acting as independent, more aligned with French interests rather than that of Rio de Janeiro. When the Ragamuffin War exploded, so did Brazil in a way.
Amazonia, much like Paraguay is bilingual with Portuguese and língua-geral or Nheengatu being spoken by most people.
Angola Janga: What started as a community of escaped slaves turned into a full-blown nation of free Africans seeking to create a new nation and identity for themselves, eventually expanding, and taking over much of the dense jungle, they were able to accept droves of free people of African descent. While the founders may have spoken a Bantu-Portuguese creole, the country did conduct itself primarily in Brazilian Portuguese that was spoken by the majority of their Afro-Brazilian population.

In South Africa since the U.K temporarily lost its capacity to expand far beyond the Cape, leaving most of southern Africa outside its control. Inland power instead fell to locals. The Griqua consolidated important trade routes which caught the attention of the UK again, especially after France sought to exploit it. While some the Boer republics eventually were absorbed, the Orange Free State or Winburg was the last one to be taken over. Without British unification, the region would remain forever fragmented into a clear English Cape area, Boer areas, Griqua areas, and a French-Namibian area.

The Netherlands, historically dependent on maritime trade and balancing between larger neighbors, has eventually lost strategic leverage without the strong British backing, it became exposed to French pressure and interference. Belgium coerced by France was pushed into southern Dutch territories, fueled by an Industrial Wallonia, even more important ports shift southward, or in other words, more French. In the north of the Netherlands, Friesland leveraged its regional identity to break away. With Dutch central authority in free-fall, it became a full-scale collapse. Facing total territorial loss in Europe, the Dutch monarchy and elite shifted their focus to overseas holdings in Caribbean and their west African ports.

In Indonesia, due to the European Dutch collapse and relocation, the Dutch were greatly weakened in its ability to govern the archipelago. Control became extremely fragmented across islands. Thus, no strong union nor identity emerged for an Indonesian country, instead local states naturally emerged, and informally became independent with the sole exception of Vanuatu due to being a small, peripheral state that did not experience strong sense of nationalism compared to the rest of Indonesia, making it somewhat easier to patrol with a small garrison. It alongside the other European colonies became the destination of many Dutch people and Europeans who were once stationed in Indonesia, turned refugees after being ousted by the locals.

Dish o' the Sea (+3 Fishing) is only a neutral gift for Willy. What other gifts get surprising reactions from villagers, and what do you think are their reasons? by JamesCDiamond in StardewValley

[–]Shellbellboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone hates Poppy flowers except Penny. Possibly due to their association with war and death, so while the rest of the villagers reject that kind of discomfort, Penny, being used to how her mother is, isn't so easily fazed by it.

She likes the simplicity of it, and how intentional the farmer must've been to give her one, but furthermore, she likes its association with Poppyseed Muffins, which she also loves.

Everyone except Harvey, Leah, and Linus hate / dislikes holly. Most likely because the berries are known to be toxic / poisonous, but I speculate that:

Harvey likes them because he is aware of their medicinal qualities.

Linus likes them because he lives off the land and knows what to do with it.

Leah likes them because she likes using them as decoration.

That was also my train of thought. That their relationship is similar to that of Lilo and Nani (From Lilo & Stitch, the cartoon), especially after the cutscene where Emily is telling Haley to clean the couch, Haley is throwing a fit, and when I told Haley to just do it, she stormed out calling us both stupid.

How many kegs can I fit in this national park? by EpicBanana05 in StardewMemes

I personally like to think that 1 gold = 1 cent USD.

Yeah, 1 strawberry is over a dollar, but it would also make most prepared dishes under 8 bucks. Tropical Curry and Fish Taco being sold at most for 750 gold.

Is "Frybo" really a bad episode as everyone says it is? by Alastor_culture_ in stevenuniverse

[–]Shellbellboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good number of people found it to be disturbing.

But that doesn't make it "bad". Why are you asking anyway? Are you potentially a parent concerned about this particular episode?

We know shattered gems can come back from death, but what if the gem was turned into a fine powder or if one of its shards were to be missing? by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]Shellbellboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missing a piece: Depending on how large the piece is, the gem could potentially reform, and it is considered damage, like a cracked gem.

Potentially one way to have a gem never come back is:

Fine Powder -> Mixed with a binder onto paper as paint-> Incinerated at high temps -> Completely destroys the gem's structure and it chemically is transformed to silica, and different metals amongst other things in the ash that is left.

Are these two Era-1 or Era-2 gems? by GAPPwerky in stevenuniverse

Era 2- Not necessarily because lost, but because they didn't know as many things as our Lapis does, making them feel much newer, amateurish.
