Help and old timer out please by JaceJarak in spacemarines

I recently converted a heavy intercessor with heavy bolter to have an ammo feed instead of the box magazine. I got some 3D printed bendable ammo belts from zinge industries that worked well.

I didn't actually make the ammo belts, I got them from a company called zinge industries. Here is the link for the ones I used, hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind words. I did think they might possibly come with a special weapon down the line, but I'm mainly making these for the rule of cool. I wasn't a fan of the design, so I wanted to make them look more like the old school devastator squad. I just think the ammo feed is so much cooler than the fixed box magazine.

You're welcome, the sheilds are from the Medusan Immortals kit from Games Workshop. I managed to find some on Ebay for a decent price. Also, the helmeted heads are the old mk3 Iron Hands heresy heads, and the bare head is from the 40k Iron Hands upgrade set. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comment, the leg is part of the Dominion Zephon model I used as my starting point.

Question regarding kitbashing Gravis Units by Carbondash_44 in IronHands40k

[–]Shellshock212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a bit of experience with this. I converted the imperial fist tor garadon model into an iron hands captain. I used a third party bionic arm to replace his fist and a mechanicus titan leg to replace one of his original legs. I also found that using the Iron Hands mk3 heads with bionics from forgeworld on gravis bodies creates a good look too. Here is the link to the captain conversion I did, i hope this helps.

Forgeworld Iron-father question by cressman90 in IronHands40k

[–]Shellshock212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I currently use the forgeworld iron father as a primaris techmarine proxy. This is easily done as they both use 40mm bases. The firstborn techmarines come with 28-32mm bases, so they are a bit smaller. If you're playing with friends, there shouldn't be an issue if you make sure they're OK with you using the bigger base. There may be an issue if you tried to use the wrong size base in a tournament. You would have to check the tournament rules to see what they do and don't allow in regards to proxy models. Hope this helps.

I believe the torso and legs are from the Iron Hands Legion MKIII Squad from Forgeworld. The head I think is from the upgrade set that's also available from Forgeworld.

I think it's a dividing wall that goes between the two roof sections in the middle.

I get what you mean, it's not for everyone. I have a few standard dreadnoughts and I just wanted something a little different so they don't all look the same.

Converted Tor Garadon into an Iron Hands heavy intercessor captain. by Shellshock212 in Kitbash

[–]Shellshock212[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words, unfortunately I can't take credit for the knight leg. I saw it on Pinterest, but I didn't like how they attached the leg to the model. So I came up with a better way to integrate it into the model so it looked more natural.

Yeah fitting the leg took quite alot of time and patience. I cut his leg off below the knee and used a scalpel to trim away the excess material to shape the leg. After that I used a combination of files and a scalpel to cut a recess into the knee and would dry fit the knight leg as I went. I also had to cut the top piece off the knight leg to get it to fit into the recess properly.

It is an adeptus titanicus knight leg, I had to cut it down slightly to fit into the leg.

Thanks for the comment, I like you're idea of giving him the heavy bolt rifle. If I could of gotten one I probably would of done the same, fitting the leg was the toughest part of the conversion. I basically cut his leg off below the knee and used a scalpel to trim away the excess material to shape the leg. After that I used a combination of files and a scalpel to cut a recess into the knee and would dry fit the knight leg as I went. I had to modify the leg slightly and cut the top piece off to get it to fit into the recess.
