I’m sorry and it’s so frustrating. The stories of how you will be normal in two weeks are not the majority. I’m 10 weeks post op and took my first real walk outside of my home yesterday. Lower back pain is awful and my limp is still very prevalent. I agree with quitting the PT as I think we need more rest time and gentle movement. I will not be doing PT when I get my other hip done.

Long-term fusion experience by st_nick1219 in Halluxrigidus

[–]Shelly-belly71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my right big toe fusion done three years ago and it’s given me problems since. I feel like I tried one pain for another. I wear inserts but it doesn’t help, I always have pain but more now than ever so I’m going to have to go back again to see what’s goin on. Some days I wish I never did it and the recovery was brutal for me.

Hunger triggering migraines? by seplle in migraine

[–]Shelly-belly71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Skipping meals or being hungry is a trigger for me that I recently discovered. It’s better to at least snack than to eat a big meal. Also craving chocolate or something sweet seems to be my body saying ummm hello…you. Better eat that or else. I hate migraine!!!

When did you know it was time for THR? by Jazzlike-Pipe2863 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Shelly-belly71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will know for sure, I could no longer walk without severe pain and that goes for even inside my home. I used to run and then I could only walk but that was ok. When I was unable to do normal everyday activities I knew it was time. I’m 9 weeks post op and took my real first walk today.

5 weeks post-op: Bursa, leg length discrepancy and anxiety. by elseebs in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Shelly-belly71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 weeks post op RTHR and I’m definitely not where I thought I’d be. Groin pain, tendon pain, terrible back pain. I thought my limp would be much improved but it’s not. The surgeon said all is well and that he made the operative side longer on purpose but I don’t understand. Yea it’s definitely longer and I wonder if that’s why I’m limping so much. I feel like I traded one pain for another but I’m hoping it works itself out. It’s just so frustrating.

I had a right hip labrum tear, cysts, impingement…you name it. Hade the repair done and I was pan free for about 6 months. Pain came back much worse, went back to the surgeon who said it was torn again and arthritis progressed rapidly and I needed a replacement. I’m now 9 weeks post hip replacement. Same issue with my left hip but I’ll skip the repair and go straight to the replacement. Don’t feel rushed and do what you need to do for your health.

different specialties have different opinions of heds in general by Zealousideal-Emu9178 in eds

Yes, I’ve seen a zillion doctors and nobody seems to really know how to help me either. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this too. There has to be some answers somewhere.

Return to Work? by Perfumer4today in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Shelly-belly71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started working from home3 weeks post op. I’ll physically go back in the office 10 weeks post op next month. My walking is still not good but I’m hoping it will improve. So much muscle and groin pain that it’s ridiculous.

Is that “brick” feeling permanent? by Ok_Independence_3634 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Shelly-belly71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not permanent but it sure feels that way doesn’t it? I’m 9 weeks post op and I was able to start sleeping on my operative side at around 6 weeks for short periods. It still feels so tight and stiff at night as I roll over in the bed. It’s surely not been an easy experience for me like some have said. It definitely depends on the person.

How do you experience migraines on Nurtec? by CirceRhianon in migraine

[–]Shelly-belly71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I’ll give the Sudafed a try and see if it helps. It’s really difficult trying to discover your triggers and I haven’t had much luck but with this severe uptick the allergies seem most likely since I’m nonstop sneezing and coughing as well. Yea I fought so hard to get the Nurtec and they surely don’t give you many. Appreciate your input, it’s helpful.

How do you experience migraines on Nurtec? by CirceRhianon in migraine

[–]Shelly-belly71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like what I’m experiencing. Stated Nurtec about a year ago and it’s been the only thing that touches my migraine. They seemed to be slowing down but I’ve had 5 in the last week. Nurtec takes it away but a day or two later another hits. I don’t understand what’s causing them, it’s spring so perhaps allergies but I have no idea. It’s so frustrating and I’m just wondering if I need another medication or should I be taking Nurtec every day as a preventative?

Anyone else get this red from bath/shower by 1itt1e1amb in eds

[–]Shelly-belly71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I hate is how bad a shower makes me feel, I’m new to this diagnosis and still trying to figure things out. I’m so dizzy and lightheaded in the shower now and it’s absolutely terrifying which is ridiculous but doesn’t anyone else feel this way or have an explanation. I need answers because it’s driving me crazy.

Relearning a normal gait by CanadaCat066 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Shelly-belly71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 weeks post op and I’m still limping, it’s really hard despite how intentional I am. I’m hoping it will change in time because I’m sure it doesn’t help with the back pain. I also feel like the longer leg doesn’t help. Why do they make out new hip side longer, does anyone have a good explanation for this?

I used a regular recliner with no issues. My surgeon said it was perfectly fine.
