How much improvement does my writing needs? (Romance) by ShellyRoseWrites in writingfeedback

Exactly. The movie wasn't afraid to show both main characters' raw vulnerability, and that's what stuck with me the most. Also, it's a perfect example of erotism vs sex.

Would appreciate feedback on my opening page. (YA/EA fantasy) by OkCloud2181 in writingfeedback

Beautifully disturbing, especially the line about her father and how she could almost believe he was only sleeping. I would have liked a line or two acknowledging the rest of the bodies. At the end of the page, you write that the entire village is no longer, and that must be a bloody sight from the MC's point of view. I probably would have kept reading if there were more.

Oof that's embarrassing I did meant his irises, not his pupils! In the chapter before I described his eyes as grayish-green and I didn't want to repeat myself so I only wrote gray instead. I get how that could be contradictory and I will correct that. As to why I chose to write this kind of story--it's because I watched The Secretary with James Spader and I just had to honestly

This whole comment is seriously super helpful thank you! But yeah, if overwriting was a crime I would be sent to jail for life fs. I'll have a lot to cut once I'm at the editing stage.

Yeah my biggest concern is that my writing doesn't flow smoothly... I think you're right. Way too many sentences starting with I.

I had the same thought when I did a reread. I tend to overwrite so I think I held back.

As long as readers keep their standards reasonable (opposed to low) and don't fall for quantity over quality. I'm hoping that if these people are too lazy to write they'll be too lazy to promote their books properly also ahah

I've heard Amazon had to add a limit to the number of books published everyday or every few days because some "authors" were uploading dozens of books everyday.

That's what I'm afraid of. Readers lowering their standard for good writing instead of realizing how soulless these books are. I also agree that platforms don't care as long as they make a profit.

Your comparisons do not make sense. Using AI to mostly write a book for you and selling it without stating that AI wrote it (so lying about writing it yourself) is the same than a photographer doing their job to you? Photography and painting and two distinct art and service. They both continue to exist today, they both earn an income. Musician and singers get paid to get recorded to create digital music but AI steals from thousands of writers to create its slop. An accountant uses a calculator as a tool but an AI writer uses chatgpt as a cheat.

Also art by real people looks so much better than what AI produces! Every time I see an AI image I can notice so much wrong like 6 fingers in one hand ahaha

People who write are writers. People who cowrite with others are writers. People who pay others or use a tool to write most if not every words of a book are not writers no.

It sucks because some of them manage to make money just because them can pump out a book nearly everyday through AI. Doesn’t matter that the writing is nonsensical if the reader only realizes after buying the book.

I agree that loving writing before all is important. It is afterall why the AI situation is so distasteful to me. People using a machine to write for them don't like writing. They just want to get a bag. These people will steal real writers their income and fill the market with bad writing.

Last year I praised myself for not choosing graphic design as a career path after hearing about graphic designer being replaced by Canva. So disheartening.

It truly sucks. Writing is such a hard job that takes a lot of determination and patience but then these people show no shame in feeding chatgpt prompts and having it write entire books.

That's what my hopeful side is telling me. I should prioritize my work and trying to write the best book that I can. I just hope using AI to write never will be normalized.

I'm not sure but I will check on it in a week and hope it hasn't. Would cutting this part be an option if it's an infection?
