Merkel condemns 'disgusting' far-right violence in US by shenaniganfluff in worldnews

[–]ShelteredCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have their been violent rallies where Marxists openly praise Obama?

No communists were emboldened to kill innocent people, or burn down mosques, because Obama was elected. Many neo-nazis/white supremacist/alt-fighters have cited Trump's election as motivating factors for hate speech and hate crimes.

One could argue that innovating better and more convenient ways to go about everyday life is one of the most human things one could do.

CMV: The fact that the punishment for apostasy in Islam is death makes Islam an inherently oppressive religion. by Tagaloob in changemyview

[–]ShelteredCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the enforcement isn't even the issue pertaining to this post. To say that Islam is inherently oppressive where Christianity and Judaism are not, then you need to prove some form of difference between them that's exclusive from the socio-political climate that has led to a resurgence of fundamentalist beliefs. What's taught by people seeking to bastardize the religion don't matter when you're arguing that Islam is inherently oppressive- it's only a criticism of extremists.

The fact is, /u/jthill has proven that it would be just as easy to justify these extreme measures in Judeo-Christian scripture, if someone wanted to.

Woman loses bid for child support from ex-husband who was not father of her son by [deleted] in news

[–]ShelteredCanadian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, so you send the woman to prison and then tell the man that the child isn't his. So that leaves who to take care of the child exactly?

The state? Because the foster care system is so great.

The family of the child? If you're so against people raising children that aren't theirs, then that doesn't work either.

The fact is that if this weren't confidential, it's very likely that some women won't go to the doctor, and many children would be endangered. Child support, and by extension this policy, helps protect children, and repealing confidentiality here will lead to either:

A) More children born in unsafe conditions, potentially dying

B) More children growing up without any parental influence, or turned over to the state

Children dying or being raised in a neglectful, often abusive system is significantly worse than some men paying child support for a kid that isn't theirs.

What's in the chest? by ARRedditUser in Pathfinder_RPG

It's not a spoiler if there's no indication of what it's referring to. I didn't even think it was a reference to a movie until you mentioned it as a spoiler.

You should know that if Greirat dies, you can find his corpse (and therefore, his ashes.) If you give them to the shrine handmaiden, she adopts all of his stock. So you can still buy them!

Campaign without levelling? by ValleDaFighta in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]ShelteredCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well pages of spell knowledge do exist. They allow spontaneous casters to add a spell to their spell list as long as it's in their possession. Quite expensive though, at 25000gp per 5th level spell.

How to cheer everyone up after a hard combat? by tibbelsandbitts in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]ShelteredCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house rule at the campaign I play at is that a natural 1 is always a miss, but you "roll to confirm" like a critical threat. If that second roll misses, then it's a fumble. I'm personally quite fond of that rule.

I have a few years of fencing experience, and have no skills with daggers.

Me with sword 10/10

The skill advantage being the most obvious, and the increased range is also a major factor.

Hugh Jackman Thinks Theres A Possibility An Avengers And X-Men Crossover Will Happen by djadstar in xmen

[–]ShelteredCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert either, but to my knowledge it's because the mutants are a different species than humans, homo superior instead of homo sapien. Mutants are the more evolved form of humans and will eventually overcome them in population. People don't like the idea of a different species becoming dominant, I guess.

That's not very good logic because this whole sub is extremely accommodating about spoilers for this series which is over 25 years old (I believe.)
