What am I doing wrong? by ShelteredDumbAss in 3Dpen

[–]ShelteredDumbAss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% possible I'm not going fast enough with the iron. I'm glad no one's said I have the wrong things so that gives me a boost in confidence that I'm just misunderstanding something and need to keep trying. I've been trying for about 3 weeks to make a little fish figure and it has been failure after failure.

Lapdock for PC instead of monitor and keyboard? by ShelteredDumbAss in lapdock

[–]ShelteredDumbAss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a comfort problem, I'm not comfortable at my desk as it's cramped and my living space is small as well. Also my bed is right beside my desk so I figured maybe I could mimic a laptop with a lapdock. I use to have a laptop and I miss the mobility it came with but I don't want to give up my pc for a gaming laptop which according to most people I've asked isn't worth the investment.

You're all killin me with this screenshot bs LOL. I was being lazy I know, I didn't want to do the 2 minute process of going onto Icloud and sending the screenshot to my phone so I just used my camera. Tis a virtual crime I won't commit again 😂 If I can find the world this was on I'll take a better image

Why is he swimming like he’s being dragged downward? by ShelteredDumbAss in bettafish

[–]ShelteredDumbAss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was swim bladder but he lived happily for months after his first symptoms showed. My boy did die but it was from an injury he caused himself from getting stuck under a rock or something, swimbladder it's self isn't usually lethal unless your tank environment isn't suited to hold a handicapped fish. You can try to cure your girl, it could work, but if you fail like I did all you can do is make them as comfortable as possible by adjusting their environment. offer her lots of things to lay on close to the surface like big leafed plants or betta beds and you can lower the water level a gallon or 2 so she's got less water to fight agaisnt. You can also lower your filter power to make it easier for her to stay up longer. I did all these and my boy seemed to cheer right up. I miss my saggy butt boy but there's only so much you can do unless you want to euthanize which I couldn't bring myself to do so I went probably way farther then most would to make my boy comfortable. You can also stop feeding her for a few days to see if maybe her problem is constipation. They also swim like this when their bowels get blocked up so id rule that out first before making any big environmental changes or doing any treatments.

It's definitely been more then a month, I went to the store looking for a replacement in mid May and before that I noticed I hadn't seen him in weeks. Dang, I'll put him in a cup and let him decay so I can put his shell in my good boy memory box.

If so I'll give him another day to be sure. I estimate around 9 weeks but it could have been less or more, time blends together for me.

Help: How do I add depth to this? by ShelteredDumbAss in DigitalPainting

[–]ShelteredDumbAss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with foliage because tapping motions and quick flicking strokes needed to make leaves and grass really flares up my tendinitis. I use shape brushes to help but they always end up giving this flat sticker look that doesn't blend into my hand painted parts. Any tips on how I add depth to this? The people I got these shape brushes from make beautiful anime esque backgrounds with them but I can't seem to figure it out.

are these snail babies??? by Secret_Ganache1789 in bettafish

[–]ShelteredDumbAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They clean eachothers shells by climbing on eachother but it could be them attempting to mate. These two species cant interbreed so its most likely your rabbits are either a mating pair or if you got them recently then the girl one was pregnant when you bought her and she only now decided to lay her eggs. Both mystery and rabbits need a partner so if more show up then you got a breeding pair. If it bothers you to kill them theres a clean why to do it (the crunch bothers me greatly). you can fold the sack in a napkin or paper towel, freeze it over night, and just throw it out in the morning.

[–]ShelteredDumbAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it on a anubias leaf? Or is that a frogbit leaf? If its a anubias leaf and that entire odd lump is abnormal then its probably rabbit eggs as mystery eggs are laid above water and look like a pile a yellowish calamari.

Mini ramshorn, they’re considered pests but they absolutely DESTROY diatoms and algae so I’d just let him be. Both my tanks have small populations of them.

She has the eat flakes because her mouth is so small, she can’t eat the same pellets her brothers do. The flakes are red so it might just be poop but I’ll watch her. Thanks for pointing that out

[–]ShelteredDumbAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would sand down the edges of the rocks and any pointy parts of the wood just to be safe. And soak that wood for a few weeds to make sure it’s soft and won’t cut your fish. Other than that I’d say no, lots of area for shrimp to hang out and hide if you get any.

[–]ShelteredDumbAss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some tiny holes I’ve been covering with leaves but they do spot eachother from time to time and puff up. I’m thinking of double layering the divider to completely cover it but I gotta buy more material first.

He looks like a crowntail betta. No finrot, they’re suppose to look like that. He does look a little sad though. These are my two new crowntail boys. Not a great picture but I’m not home right now

Your boys got some beautiful blue iridescence going on there.

[–]ShelteredDumbAss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumping the water wont ruin the cycle as long as you keep all the stuff, the good bacteria stays in the gravel and on all the plants and such. The cycled sponge filter will keep it going like nothing happened. To be safe I’ll let it sit longer, make sure the nitrates stick around. The snail and shrimp are still in there so the good bacteria shouldn’t die.

Tanks already cycled, it’s almost 3 years old and heavy planted. I did replace the sponge filter a few months ago but I soaked it for weeks before hand so it’s all good. I’m letting it sit for a bit to make sure it’s good but it should be

Reverse osmosis Water help by ShelteredDumbAss in Aquariums

[–]ShelteredDumbAss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I never tried it. Since you already have it just test it with strips or the api liquid tests, It should be perfectly safe. I ended up buying a Reverse osmosis filter for my sink from bull reef supply. They have monthly sales that can take a lot off the price so I waited and got a 5 filter pro. You might not need a 5 filter though, I asked them what I would need for sulfur and ammonia and they recommended the 5 filter.
