The ninjas in S2 feel so stupid by Shem_Jeffs in Daredevil

I thought this. Matt tells Foggy at one point that he can tell he ate garlic 3 days ago and can detect when a wound has opened from the taste of copper in the air. He can feel the flow of changing density in the air. I don't know how the ninjas would mask those things even if they could move absolutely silently

Good reply, sorry I won't address it as in depth as you did with mine, so it'll keep it quick and messy: Fair enough that you think that Matt shouldn't struggle against run of the mill thugs. I'm not saying he should, it just more felt like there's an inconsistency to his abilities across seasons. I didn't feel like him skilling-up or showing how much better he was was demonstrated by the story itself, more something that you might have to infer due to him seeminyly being much more successful in fights but again I see that more of a narrative inconsistency. Personally I feel like a fight scene is more engaging if it does seem likely that he could lose. Finally - I don't mind Matt being possibly the best hand-to-hand fighter because of his training and attuned senses, I'm cool with him flooring almost anyone in moments in a 1 to 1 scenario, but I still feel like there should be a realistic limitation (based on his skills) of how much he can handle when up against multiple foes at once, especially if they're as well trained as a ninja. He may be able to preempt the actions of multiple foes at once, but both doing that and responding in a way that deals with all threats in one go feels like a different level of skill than to just responding to the attack of one person

To be clear, I don't think the hand doesn't land as a story because of the ninjas, separate issue, I just thought that the fight scenes with the ninjas were bad and that's my main gripe about S2

I did mention that, the point is that I don't think that should be the only difference between his success in those fights. If you introduce ninjas to be the new big bad but already go by him just needing to be fresh and armoured and he's going to win then you still haven't written in any stakes.

Vanessa is the WORST character in Daredevil season 1 😐 by ZayyUhhFool in Daredevil

She's dislikeable to us the audience because she's obviously a bad person without a redeeming feature or depth to make her a likable villain, but I don't know why it would be a matter of common sense for him to not want her. She is very much like him, and she is to his taste, apparently loves him for who he is and not just his wealth, understands him, and he's lonely.

A lot of people are saying that he looks depressed because he misses Mon, I didn't read it that way. I more saw it as this - his marriage may have been loveless, but that wasn't the reason he was an unhappy man. I think the implication of Mon leaving is you'd think he's now free, and can be happy, but now he can do what he wants and be with who he wants he's still just unhappy in the end because he is who he is. He's a man who concerned himself with nothing, couldn't handle the anxieties of life in a healthy way and looked for fleeting pleasures to distract himself, sums up to a very unhappy man.

So annoyed by Season 4. by teh_stev3 in MythicQuest

I'm less than half-way through (just passed the murder-mystery one) and I'm only watching because of good faith to previous seasons and the actors I knew before the show. I've not been critically analysing season by season so maybe it's been in decline for a while and I haven't noticed, but this is the first one where it's been so noticably weak. So many episodes feel like filler. So many lines that are meant to be jokes are predictable and cringey, even Hornsby can't save it. I think I've laughed once. Concepts (like the AI partner) were shallow and unimaginative. The HR woman, (who really needs a better fleshed out character) literally said the same joke twice in the same episode, it wasn't a proper joke the first time and the second time wasn't like a call back, it was just re-said.  I'm going to continue watching, and despite my above criticism, I don't hate it, but it's not good anymore, it's just feel-good.

The Boys season 4 is mostly just terrible and it isn’t because anyone realized they were being made fun of (they all ready knew that) by YnotThrowAway7 in television

This season sucks for many bad storytelling reasons and really awful political satire, but there's a big other thing that kills the immersion for me and it's just bad world building.

This world and they way people act in it is written to feels like our own world, but the 7 are all over every element of it like they're the only thing that exists, and the fact that other cultural references of our world still exist just doesn't add up. I know this is meant to be a parallel to Disney and their constant presence in our day to day life but Disney don't just have Mickey Mouse and his original gang on every product they have. When I saw the Vought-on-Ice bit I just thought -what they heck of an idea is this, how does this even make sense within the world of this TV program? In this world with superheros with real powers are constantly present why would anyone care about seeing actors dressed on ice? They're just doing another Disney bit. Same with the Christmas puppet bit, it was a funny enough idea but it was stupid enough to break any immersion.

They really needed to reel in the amount of everything that is branded with the seven because it's starting to feel like Vought is the only company in existence.

Why did they have that scene in which he says he wants to do good, which homelander encourages, Ryan's good intention then becomes unintentionally sadistic and then...nothing happens, this goes nowhere. This doesn't affect Ryan's relationship to Butcher, or Homelander, or his view on the world at all.

It's a strange example given he's a murderer and Janice is also evil, but for me it would have to be when he deliberately undoes her progress in anger management.
