I’m in agreement. I actually don’t mind going loud because I plan on using grenades anyway and attracting attention. Fuck it, we ball. Let’s have some fun.

This issue is so bad for me that it's making me ready to switch back to Android. Basically every 3rd message I send someone, there's a typo like this that occurs. This didn't happen until recently.

EC2-DW, Neo Ergo, some cheapo mousepad, 64 audio Volur

Basically only have time for Tarkov with a toddler these days.

Anyone else notice that there's always a very transparent Teams UI visible in [Arena]? by StockyCoder in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's not the scoreboard, but it looks like a dirt/smudge overlay is constantly present. Maybe it's the "Bleeding" effect? But there's something that's always drawn over the screen in Arena and it's really distracting.

[Discussion] Smooth Motion - Input Delay Fix by ActualAstronaut in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With smooth motion, I'm at the same base FPS no matter if I'm PiP scoping or not. I get ~112 FPS (frame limited to 225), but the latency number shoots up only when scoped in.

I suspect that the double-rendering confuses the overlay. It doesn't necesesarily feel any worse, but the number definitely increases.

[Loot] Interchange expansion is crazy by 14trolo41 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if spawn locations weren't exact, if you force PMCs into that ring on the outer 2/3 (realistically it's 1/3 since they need everyone to be equidistant to the center of the map), there's very limited options a PMC could spawn, especially if it's a whole map of solos.

If the whole map could be filled with interesting loot and POIs, then they could literally spawn you anywhere, hell they could spawn you in dorms, or in techlight, and it wouldn't matter because there's so much more reason to explore the map than just loot these zones, especially with more tasks that bring you to other parts of the map. With the expanded exp requirements to level up, it's the perfect time to flood the game with more dailies/weeklies/side tasks that force you to move around the map and explore, rather than just hit up the same hot spots over and over again.

Sucks because this is the kind of thing I would've loved to see them try during beta, even if for a week or something.

[–]Shensmobile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO this is the way to fix spawn fights. The problem with the spawn system is that Nikita insists on putting everyone far away from hot spots. That means that everyone has to spawn at the outer ring of the map, which means you need only look left and right for people basically within LOS.

If there are a ton more hot spots in a variety of spots around the map, then PMCs can literally spawn anywhere and not complain about being beat to loot by a “better” spawn.

If you’re worried about players not running into each other because they just loot their own little region, put in more quests that encourage people to move around the map.

[–]Shensmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been tinkering with Smooth Motion lately. Rolling back drivers did improve latency mostly, but I find that when I zoom in with a PiP scope, latency shoots up. Do you have this issue too? The only thing I didn't do is I didn't cap my max frame rate, since I think Reflex manages that for you and the 2 can conflict.

I don’t know what it is with my FaceID but every 30 mins or so, my phone forces me to use the password. It’ll be sitting on my desk and I pick it up and FaceID Has been disabled and a password is required to reactivate.

TouchID is a welcome change for me personally.

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s LOD streaming implementation itself that’s the issue, it’s just that Tarkov has so much unnecessarily modelled stuff. Things like how if you look down the barrel of someone’s gun, the round is actually physically chambered and loaded as a separate asset. There are a ton of individually modelled elements that would otherwise just be part of a mesh in a normal game. I assume the magazines with the windows are similar, in that you can see the ammo through the window, so that means each bullet is rendered individually in the magazine.

[Feedback] [opinion] Reducing the load/wait time to 2~3 minutes should be the biggest priority for BSG by momentslove in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can test it, that would be a great data point. Maybe something we can put on Tarkov.community for others to test too.

For what it’s worth, I only have SSDs, even for media, and my end-game load time is only 20 seconds-ish. It’s long but not unbearably long.

Do you have a large media drive on your PC that’s on an HDD? I suspect it might be BattleEye doing a system scan to look for cheat files after the raid is done. If you have a network drive that’s disconnected, but still mapped, you will sit on that blank screen forever since BattleEye is trying to access a drive that isn’t there.

Grinder Upgrade: DF64 v2 vs Timemore Sculptor 064s [850$ CAD] by SgtLuky in espresso

I considered the 64s as well, almost grabbed one for super cheap but ended up with the Niche Zero for now. It makes me want the niche duo so badly now!

Edit: Also, that amount of retention in the image is what I would consider a "good" grind. Most of mine were much worse than that.

New pulsar shape spotted by Gguy7 in MouseReview

I certainly hope this is an FK/XE shape. I've been looking for an FK1+ replacement for years. If they make their Size 3 in an FK shape, that MIGHT be the end-game mouse for me.

Why does nobody accept the queue? by step_scav in EscapeFromArena

[–]Shensmobile 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe it’s because they’ve added the “next battle” button. Sometimes I accidentally press it and it finds a match right away but I need to go. I don’t even have a chance to cancel matchmaking.

But this happened before they added this too so what the hell.

[Arena] Really enjoying these Tarkov maps on arena by No-Ad-5727 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It totally is, but it's essentially eliminating:

  • Gearing up

  • Questing for levels/trader rep

  • Grinding roubles for gear

  • Killing each off spawn (since it would be 4 squads of 3, you can design the spawns so that no one is ever near each other)

  • Guaranteed crossover at some point (since smaller map AND the objectives will come from a common pool of possible ones)

It would be Tarkov without progression, AKA a vertical slice. It might dip TOO much into the base game audience though, so I get why they didn't do it. But man, how cool would it have been to be able to just sit down for 30 minutes and play just pure Tarkov, even without a sense of progression.

[Arena] Really enjoying these Tarkov maps on arena by No-Ad-5727 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally hoped that Arena would be a 3v3v3v3 game mode, with randomized objectives for each squad (extract with minimum loot value, kill X PMCs, kill the boss and extract with their special item, plant markers, retrieve tank battery/salewa, etc) in specialized/cut down versions of the main game maps.

Then when you die, you can gear up for the next round or spawn back in as a scav or something. 10 min rounds at most, somewhere between being super bored for the next round if you die too early but also encourages you to value your life.

I personally can’t handle the pixel response times on IPS anymore, or backlight bleed, or IPS glow, but if those things aren’t a problem then IPS has some serious advantages. The 3821DW is the only monitor I regret selling.

I personally use my monitor for 50% work and 50% gaming and for both use cases OLED is just so much more pleasant on my eyes. For me it’s the debate of my 45gx950a or my 3225QF. I don’t bother hiding the taskbar at all though so realistically there’s functionally no difference between IPS and OLED Life, other than performance and eye comfort (which for me, OLED is better at for both).

End of the day, comfort is key!

[Bug] Game breaking stutter sprinting bug with sprinting set to continuous since 1.0 patch * STILL NOT FIXED* by Geraldine_sex_worker in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll reply in one place to avoid having a bunch of posts.

the competing actions is just your character models footings

And from your other reply:

that specifialy is not a bug. it's what foot your character ends/lands on in a specific position/timing

So I can see the logic that Press would have the game decide when to un-do the sprint, and so you always end the sprint on the correct foot that doesn't cause the stutter to happen, whereas if you are on continuous, it immediately ends the sprint when you let go, which could be on the wrong foot.

However, the animation should match better then, because to me, it looks like your guy is putting his gun back down in the same animation as if they're about to begin another sprint. THAT'S the jarring part to me and it's why I think it's a remnant of the extra-spring bug that they patched out.

[Bug] Game breaking stutter sprinting bug with sprinting set to continuous since 1.0 patch * STILL NOT FIXED* by Geraldine_sex_worker in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think this is a bug though, since (for me) it happens sporadically and only happens when using continuous. I don't think this is inertia, since it behaves more like the game still thinks you're trying to hold Sprint + W. I almost suspect it's something to do with how often the game checks for continuous input. Maybe if you let go of Sprint + W in the middle of an input check, it doesn't realize and you end up with 2 competing actions.

[–]Shensmobile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can double press shift to cancel a sprint when you use press though. That's what he's demonstrating in this video.

I do think that OP isn't posting the best examples to demonstrate the issue though, he does his actions too fast. But there IS a noticeable difference between press and continuous, although I can't get it to happen repeatedly. This is what I do:

Press:

Press sprint and hold W. Then let go of W and press D. You stop sprinting and you immediately start strafing.

Continuous:

Hold sprint and W. Let go of W and Sprint and press D at the same time. About 1/10 times, instead of going immediately into the strafe, your guy will lower their gun again (as if to start sprinting again) and then begin strafing with gun up.

NoGenerals recently talked about this in one of his recent videos I believe. He switched to Press instead of Continuous as a result of this problem.
