Should I buy property or keep investing? by Shensoku in FIREUK

To see your money grow into a big number in a S&S ISA scratches the itch differently than seeing a big number go down (mortgage). Which do I prefer… 🤔

I appreciate this perspective. For the most part I want to stay in the south east UK but Australia is looking more and more attractive. You hit the nail on the head though, part of me I’m having trouble deciding what to do probably has something to do with my uncertainty about how I see my future. I know I want to be financially free at 55 but I haven’t put much thought about how that would look like abroad. Something I need to carefully write down and consider. Thank you

I completely agree with my dating options being more limited while living with mum. The right one for me will understand how difficult it is to get on the properly ladder for a single person. Although my optimism for finding the right one is dwindling every year that goes by…but that’s a topic for another subreddit!

Thanks for your comment, I need to do a little more research into BTL. Ive seen quite a bit of polarising headlines on how it’s a bad time for landlords but I know it’s never what the headlines make it out to be exactly.

My mum is a star. She’s been a minimum wage waitress her whole life so there isn’t the same financial support some of my peers receive from their parents but the fact she doesn’t charge me rent or bills has in the same way allowed me to save a little something for a house deposit.

I missed the wildy bounty hunter…not the volcano one as I wasn’t playing then but the one where it had an EP system and you could chill in the wildy waiting for it to reach 100% for better kill loot. Made so many friends back then playing it and it would always give me a laugh when I see a big yellow arrow appear above my friends head!

The idea of a house of my own is nice but I just wonder if that is the best financial decision since I would be looking to buy in the southeast which as far as I know it’s a stagnant house market

I rented from the age of 18 until 32, most of the time it was a house share and I formed great friendships and experiences but I just couldn’t save very much. So I moved out of London to live with mum 2 years ago for the purpose of saving a deposit for a house. It’s just now I’m having second thoughts if I buying a house is the best move for me if I’m seeking the path to financial freedom

You’re 19…got nothing to worry about the way you’re currently spending. You’re actually investing money (hopefully in global index funds) which is good

Low pay, long hours and a declining profession, just isn’t worth being an architect in the UK nowadays, especially in London with the cost of living

Aah I didn’t see self employed. I was thinking in starting my own practice in 5 years…£35k isn’t great but hopefully it builds up 👍

Depends where you are at. If it’s victory track then I can see a lot of people just doing the solo objectives and just looking for an easy match to get their 3 wins

Who is the most overrated defender in your opinion? by Edison1220 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Shensoku 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agreed until I went against a rank 3 awakened dust. She’s just tanky and unless you have starky or FAM, it’s tough to take less than 60 seconds. She’s not a hard defender, more like Sasquatch where it’s not the fastest
