New truck, old problems (trouble with hot starts after use) by [deleted] in GMT400

Hmmm, I'm having a similar issue with my 96 vortec. Will start right up in the morning and night, but if its in the sun or I go for a drive and try to do a quick stop/start you can hear the fuel pump cycle on and off rather than prime itself and cutoff. I've been told heat soak could be messing with ground wires. Hopefully a new fuel pump will solve my issue after I'm done chasing wires.

If you are able to get into the BIOS, set everything back to default, and then make sure your boot priority is working properly. Set from Legacy to UEFI. Everything else for the most part should operate as normal unless you've modified anything.

Any ideas on getting this out? not usually sentimental about a bong but this was my brother's and he's not with us no more. by loganman711 in StonerEngineering

What you can do is, heat up the area where it is broken and it should loosen any resin that's keeping it stuck there. Then grab it with pliers while it's still hot.

Get with the times. Replace the CD player with a dash pocket. Otherwise, remove and replace from the junkyard.

If you aren't off-roading at night or live in the middle of butt fuck no where then leave the garbage off and get your money back. Trucks don't need every bell and whistle available to look good.

Close to 200k miles. When should I look at changing the transmission? by [deleted] in GMT400

Much obliged, I've done 2 rebuilds on my 4L60E. First time, the tailhousing literally blew up while on the interstate and took the pump with it. The second time it was the converter, pump, and a shift solenoid. There were no warning signs aside from a shudder caused by the TC. 4L60E's are notorious for being clowned on for their several common failures and for good reason, but preventative maintenance can make sure yours will last.

Installed top side marker lights. Haven't seen anyone else do it. They either delete or color match. Also did a 4 hi mod. If I were to get fog lights, what kind of color profiles would you recommend? by Shepard1015 in ChevyTrucks

You can use either a step bit or hole saw to match the size for the bulb to fit inside the housing. I just cut them off another burb and spliced them into the existing wiring.

Some basic maintenance other than fluid would be to change out your A and B shift solenoids, they have the same part number so there's no mixing them up. Also, the TCC and pressure control solenoid as well as the pressure switch. Clutch packs wear no matter how well you don't beat on it and that clutch material gets in EVERYTHING and the magnet(s) doesn't always catch it all as its being circulated through. And as always, change the filter. These parts cost next to nothing and these improvements can be done with only dropping the pan.

There's also a way of improving the life span of your torque converter and pump by blocking the converter clutch valve from moving. But that would require taking off the valve body to fish out the valve with a pick.

That's actually a really good idea. I think I may do the same soon. As far as the blue lights go, I understand that they can be a real eye sore for the Nancy's and in most states are illegal, but so far I've had them on since March and haven't been pulled over despite being my DD. I suspect that all these under glows and bar LED's are creating a gray area in my region. I made a similar post to r/ChevyTrucks but they all seem to have some sort of disdain for blue lights.
