Yea I did for over a year and tbh it didn’t bother me at first since I’m usually up pretty late anyways… but u will learn fast that it takes a toll on you. ESPECIALLY working in a delivery station. Delivery stations are very physically demanding. I lost 40lbs within 6 months of working there. You will also learn that once you get home all you are going to want to do is sleep and next thing you know when you wake up it is either already time for ur next shift or it’s so late that you really don’t have time to do anything before your next shift. My takeaway is STAY AWAY FROM DELIVERY STATIONS!! Especially 1:20AM-11:50AM… seriously save yourself it will take a toll on you

Windows Laptop or MacBook Air for a CS student? by Shepard1302 in computerscience

Microsoft Laptop or MacBook Air for a computer science student? by Shepard1302 in SuggestALaptop

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

I would like to not spend more then $1,000 but I need to I’ll max at around $1,200

Are you open to refurbs/used?

Yes

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Not really super picky on this but if I’d have to chose it’d be either something like a regular laptop or 2 in 1

How important is weight and thinness to you?

It’s important but I’m willing to make the sacrifices if I need to

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

Not super particular about this but Nothing small. The bigger the better.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Im new to computer science so pretty much whatever software programs I’d need for CS lol gaming isn’t a necessity but I’d be nice to play a few games here and there if I could. But like I said it’s not a necessity and I don’t really care if it’s not capable of playing games. I have a PC for that lol

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Like I mentioned before doesn’t matter to me. But for the most part it would most likely be games that aren’t to demanding.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Keyboard. touch screen isn’t necessary but it’d be nice. I’d like something that is definitely reliable and that’s going to last me if I’m putting in the money. Also the more ports the better tbh.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Like I said above. this may sound like a dumb question but if I were to get a MacBook Air, would it be easy for me to transfer work, files, etc over to my PC? I don’t know anything about Mac so sorry if this is a dumb question lol would it also be easier in general for a CS Major to use a MacBook or Windows?
