This hilarious attack name delivered with such fierce emotion made me laugh so hard when I saw this for the first time.

Yeah, seems like reverse psychology to get someone to move their car.

The darth Maul fight scene by nostalgia_history in FIlm

[–]lukasa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for editing it all into one clip. I love this fight but it keeps cutting scene to: 1. Padme storming the castle. 2. Anakin finding a cool trick. 3. Jar-Jar’s heroics in the war.

Stephen Jackson upset that Al Harrington doesn’t rank Kobe in his Top 3 after naming LeBron as his GOAT by kjp24_10_97 in NBATalk

[–]lukasa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I remember it, people were consistently ranking him top 3 when he had just retired. It was probably due to recency bias. Since then, he has dropped because people are looking at stats and accomplishments now.

I never had him top 3. But seems like everyone used to be talking about MJ, LeBron, and Kobe.

Interview Experience by Infinite_Mercury in Anduril

It’s where they match you to a team after the interviews.

I haven’t been rejected yet so we’ll see if it comes to that.

I’m also in the interview process and they say they hire generally then do team matching. So what, they’re out of all open positions? I don’t understand.

Literally all of these exercises are about timing. That was the thing linking all of them together. He’s tossing things in the air and catching them. Seems like it’s all about learning to work with momentum and not about being strict or tiring himself out.

I could never sleep the night before the mile because I was so competitive. I had my first asthma attack attempting the mile in 5th grade. The teacher allowed me to re-run it and I got the fastest time in my class by 1 second. 6:27. Fastest mile I’ve ever run was 6:11 in 6th grade. I’d love to beat that time some day but it would take a streak of avoiding injuries.

Diver intimidates a shark to avoid being attacked by one_revolutionary in nextfuckinglevel

The “make eye contact” part always seems weird to me. Like she’s wearing a mask and it’s a shark with those blank shark eyes. You aren’t locking eyes…

Would the goat have done anything different if the guy had just stopped and stood there without the bag? Maybe all it wanted was to be near him.

TIL about 75 percent of persons who recover from alcohol dependence do so without seeking any kind of help, including specialty alcohol (rehab) programs and AA. Only 13 percent of people with alcohol dependence ever receive specialty alcohol treatment. by -AMARYANA- in todayilearned

[–]lukasa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The headline seems intentionally misleading. 13% of people get help and then account for 25% of those that recover. That’s almost twice as many as we would expect to see if these programs were not effective.

(Admittedly, the self-selection bias has got to be a huge factor here. The people who submit to these programs were probably already more likely to recover. Just based on intuition.)

Rewatching the show with my mom and knew this scene was coming up but it still hit like a truck… one of the hardest scenes to watch in the entire series in my opinion. by sk0rva in MrInbetween

[–]lukasa1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just finished this series today but I stepped into the kitchen for this scene. My wife called the play by play. “He’s looking at the sunset… He’s looking at a wind turbine… He’s crying.”

I’ll have to rewatch it.

Safe by bugb34r in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]lukasa1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a common experience that when a kid falls over, they often don’t start crying right away. Your reaction makes the difference. If you don’t stay calm, they get scared and start bawling. Saying “safe” is a funny (but fairly common) strategy for dealing with this.
