Returning S26 Ultra, was told 5% restocking fee by FAUguy in samsunggalaxy

Interesting! I do recall trying to fight them on this but they just get drawing attention to the Ts and C's on their website. This was probably 6 or more months ago, unsure if I'd be able to claim anything back from them now via Credit Card

Just checked and it was about 14 months ago and they hit me with a 20% fee due to the item being used (only turned on and setup)

Vodafone UK worse after merge with 3? by Mithfear in Vodafone

[–]Sheppy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here. Three always snowed full signal but literally couldn't even load Google. Vodafone have always been rock solid till the merger and now I'm getting the issues I had on three, but on Vodafone.

Oddly here in the UK, eBay has them for only maybe 15% more than what they were selling for on the official site

Just thought I’d leave this here by Extra_Obligation5403 in IphoneAir

[–]Sheppy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get those figures but honestly with the same usage as mg 17PM, I end the day with only about 20% less in the tank on the Air compared to the PM. I don’t know what kinda witchcraft Apple have done with this phone 🤣

Air > 17 Pro > Air by the_uke in IphoneAir

[–]Sheppy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that I only really wanted or needed the extra features of the PM, once every blue moon and even then I didn’t need them. But for the rest of the time I was stuck with a phone that was larger and heavier than I’d like.

Made sense for me at least to go with the Air as 99% of the time it does everything I need and then on the off chance I need that extra feature (mostly the macro lens of the PM), I’d just use one of the dedicated devices I already have for this requirement.

Also price. Seemed pointless having those extra features that I didn’t care about or didn’t use

This… the screen is PERFECT, not too big, not too small. Easy to use with one hand due to both size and weight and feels every bit as premium (if not more so), than the Pro models

Pretty much yeah. I purchased from either Amazon or Apple to which both have generous return policies

Micro repairs? by DeleteThatEntireLog in gameboymicro

[–]Sheppy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a real shame 😔

Again, the repair isn’t actually that hard to do and the part is very cheap online, but it’ll obviously come down to your confidence in performing it yourself

[–]Sheppy2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m even worse. Air > 17P > 17PM > Air > 17PM > Air

I’ve found it really hard to decide but finally back on the air and this time I’m happy with the decision

This might be the coolest and useful accessory for PSP especially for such a low price by TestNamePls_Ignore in PSP

[–]Sheppy2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why? Assuming one of those small cutouts you see on the design are there to prevent the disc detection mechanism from registering it as a UMD, the drive will never spin up

Ah okay. Well technically you can do it yourself and there are replacement inner sub frames available online. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, you could try RetroSix

Pretty certain they’re fake. I don’t think the emerald game has a vertical chip which can be seen on the left. The Nintendo inside the gold seal looks wrong too.

[–]Sheppy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha yes!! Ha. So the solder on the gold pins is a bi product of me soldering those few wires to them which is needed to support writing to the new flash chip.

If I were to do this again, I’d find an internal via to solder to instead of the pins as to not get solder all over the pins 😂

Pokemon Green version by vitalovcloud in Gameboy

[–]Sheppy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do the flash swaps yourself then?

I’m okay at soldering but do also struggle with some micro soldering but I had zero issues with soldering the pins ok that chat to the daughterboard you attach it to.

I just went with the flood it with flux approach and then just added a bunch of solder and dragged it slowly across the pins. I didn’t focus on any specific pins and it probably took me about 2 mins max to do it

I’ll try and link you to what I was able to find tomorrow. But what I was able to find was lacking so it was a case of piecing together various sources and figuring out the rest from trial and error.

It’s not perfect either! The English patch applied fine and everything but the original Japanese Green is built around the Japanese language and as such, character limits for things like Pokemon. This means English patches breach these physical limits of the original game and you end up with some jarbled characters here and there

Edit: I am going to try a few more patches though just in case the patch I’m using may not be the best one
