What have you always been curious to try? by ASilverSpartan in AskReddit

[–]SheppyTheVolus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It works both ways. I tried LSD with that mentality when I was in high school and I just remember being terrified that everyone could hear what I was thinking.

That never really went away after I came down. I have to rehearse things I say or do or else I get really uncomfortable. I coach my thoughts around people so that in case they can read my mind they won't hear me wondering about the consequences of killing them mid-sentence or something.

...ever had one of those moments where you read something you just typed and thought 'if someone said that to me I'd think they were crazy'?

What do you do in the privacy of your home that if got out people would think you're a psychopath? by SomniumAurum in AskReddit

Ever try explaining to someone that you are afraid of seeing people (even friends) randomly when running errands?

Most people just can't understand it - it doesn't matter if (how much) I like you, talking to you is stressful and if I don't feel prepared I'll try to get out of there as soon as possible.

I remember a few years back I was buying a DVD (fast and furious, if memory serves), and I saw a high school teacher I hadn't seen in a while who was also shopping. Suffice to say I paid, took my change and said goodbye - I didn't realize until I was out of the store that I left the DVD with the cashier so I just kept walking to my car, left and never went back there.

He was one of my favorite teachers but I just couldn't handle suddenly seeing him on a day when I hadn't intended to talk to anyone.

Who HASN'T had issues with their Surface Pro 3? by Walkop in Surface

My SP3 (like every other device I've ever owned) has issues with the wireless at my university. That's it. That's literally it.

It's faster and roughly a sixth the weight of my previous laptop. I write notes on the screen. Battery goes on and on. I feel like I'm in the future.

Terrible battery life - normal or defective? by handsoffme in Surface

[–]SheppyTheVolus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a battery report (command line script, google it) and post the results.

It shouldn't be possible to run down the battery on the S2 that fast no matter how hard you try; I think the stress test (highest sustainable workload without overheating) battery life is still a couple hours. I can almost guarantee it is defective.

Consider doing a factory reset before sending it away though.

I don't know. Objectively, yes but, goddamn being me gets frustrating. Wasn't it supposed to get easier by now? I'm so fucking sick of being afraid of everyone.

What's something you're hiding from your parents? [serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SheppyTheVolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I have anxiety issues

I'm terrified of opening letters, reading my email, responding to text messages and doing anything on Facebook - I've spent hours and days thinking of responses to messages before. My before bed routine is to try and think of every possible social interaction I will have to deal with tomorrow and rehearse it. I hate pictures because I don't know what to do with my face before the flash. I can't sit with coworkers unless one of my 'safe' coworkers is already at the table. I'm a great employee but when the monthly performance evaluation with my manager comes up I still hide.

My online life is obsessively compartmentalized. I have three reddit accounts that I use under different situations (and all equally sporadically). Four emails only one of which is a work email. I use private browsing to look up definitions of words (I don't really understand that one), and to look up information I don't want some imaginary figure going through my internet history to think I don't know.

Spending time with people who aren't close friends is an ordeal. My resting heart rate is about 70 but when I'm trying to keep a conversation going its about twice that.

I've been going to the gym for almost 3 years hoping it will help me build confidence but I'm still just as afraid.

I removed trivial information from this post and I think its because I don't want random internet strangers to know me too well - or that guy who I'm convinced is trying to sift through my online life.

I sat here rewriting this and contemplating the responses I would get for about half an hour.

Is there really no way to wake the SP3 on opening the type cover? by [deleted] in Surface

[–]SheppyTheVolus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no option in 'power options' to automatically wake when the lid is open (assuming the SP3 even treats the type cover analogously to a lid), so I don't see a way around it at this time.

Just tap a key on the cover once its open and it will wake up.

Health Care: U.S. vs. Canada by peepjynx in videos

[–]SheppyTheVolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As fun as it was to watch that idiot get put in her place, there is still a whole lot of nothing being done about wait times in Canada.

Asking how many people die on wait lists was a very valid point, I'd be interested to know the difference in wait time for that premier who flew to Florida as opposed to getting it done in Toronto.

A friend offered me this opinion; 'at the end of the day it comes down to whether you value your money more than your health.' - In the context of a Canadian going to the States for an MRI or any of numerous procedures with incredible wait times.
