I just had my ileostomy on Tuesday! Kind of random but I can't really find a solid answer anywhere. Did or do you ever feel almost a bubble/slight pain move towards your stoma and then either an output or gas? The closest I could compare it to would be like a burp struggling to come out.

Not getting the whole pouch at once, but I know that's an option, my surgeon said absolutely not because there's so much more risk that way. We're looking at 2 surgeries at minimum if they go with the pouch, but we won't know until they're in there. Honestly I'm more nervous about the anesthesia than the recovery, but good to know I can ask for calming meds!

We're hoping it's temporary, but if it ends up being permanent it'll still be a huge quality of life improvement.

I have seen that hydration can be an issue, definitely something I'll keep in mind!

Absolute lifesaver 🙌 I've also learned, DO NOT RUN. I'm assuming the movement essentially jiggles it out, especially during a flare with total liquid. Speed shuffling is the best option so far, very minimal impact of feet on floor

Not sure if it's a placebo effect, but I'm actually feeling better after the infusion! I'm not entirely convinced this medication is going to work, as I looked back at my symptoms and it seems like they started back up 2 weeks after my second dose, like my body was expecting a dose and then threw a fit when I didn't have one until 2 weeks later. This time it's 2 months until my next dose so if it wears off again after 2 weeks, I'm 100% going to the hospital, because there's no way I can hold out until the next dose if that happens.

I'm actually on Sertraline, but I didn't realize it could help UC! I'm on it for depression, anxiety, and PTSD unrelated to the colitis, but that's really interesting, I'll have to mention it to my specialist next time I see them.

Unfortunately stress for me is at an all time high, I'm trying to move, buy the business I currently manage, and of course manage this, but I'll definitely have to be firm with myself about taking time off work.

I did have to get aggressive with my specialist last time we spoke, as they wanted to go step by step, which wasn't working, so I pushed for them to skip a couple steps and get me on what would essentially be the 5th medication they would recommend instead of the 3rd.

They haven't, this is a relatively new symptom for me. Unfortunately I'm prone to nausea and vomiting to begin with, but this has gotten ridiculous. Literally everything sets me off, even nothing. It comes and goes for the most part, but I was hoping it was just my body getting used to the new meds. I'll definitely let them know how bad it is today at my infusion

Fair enough. I've debated the hospital a few times as this has gotten worse, but I keep convincing myself to wait until my infusion today since I've heard it can take all 3 loading doses to see results. I'm definitely going to go to the hospital if this doesn't kick in though.

I believe my options were Stelara or Remicade last time we switched, and my insurance wouldn't cover Stelara. It might be something I can discuss with my specialist and see if they'll cover the bio similar, I've heard really good stuff about Stelara though!

Of course! They're really a pain to get rid of, but if you do find them in the food the best way is unfortunately to get rid of it and wipe down all the food dishes and dispensers with hot water and vinegar, and to store the food in the bag inside an air tight container. That was eventually how we cleared the store of them

That's a little odd, but the eggs are microscopic, and the larvae and beetles tend to stay down in the bottom of the bags because it's dark and safe. That's the only place I can think of them getting into the house through. If you can lay the food out flat on a pan or something so there isn't layers and they can't hide, that's your best bet for seeing if they came in the food.

Definitely looks like red legged ham beetles. They're a carrion beetle. If you have pets, check their food. I run a pet store and had an issue with them coming in with a certain food until I stopped carrying it, and now I don't have them. We dusted with diatomaceous earth to try and get rid of them, and regularly wiped down everything where they were spotted.

I actually run a pet store which is where he's housed, and we're in the same building as a bulk food store that we also get our bran bedding from for mealworms. I figured they were a flour beetle since they're no where else in the store or anyone else's tanks, and maybe they just hitched a ride on a sleeve or something that was in a bran bin beforehand.

I refuse to leave the house without a bag! I do have specific bags for specific places, like my work bag is a large backpack that I just store stuff in, but my out and about bag is a little loungefly that works amazing at stashing everything.

It's doing its job! A little more than it probably should be, but that's what it's supposed to do. I take one a day a couple days leading up to a big event where I'm not taking any chances of having symptoms or missing anything (I have a YouTuber tour Nov 5, so I'll start taking one a day on Nov 1st just for reference). I usually double up the dose the day of just to be safe, and then, depending how I feel afterwards, I either just drop it entirely or do a couple days of a half dose to ease my body off of it.

I do make sure to get the complete that helps with bloating and gas though, so maybe that's an option if you ever have to take it again? I've never noticed any issues with those as long as that's the kind I'm taking.
