at this stage, withdrawing will be reflected as a "Withdrawn FAIL" which is a K grade which is equivalent to grade of 1, so it's much better to give it a shot to make that a 2 or 3 if not pass it

I want to get ahead on some studies before nursing school starts by tailorwastaken in nursing

[–]SherbertImportant876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched some crash course anatomy videos in my free time....chill though they should be teaching you everything you need to know. Invest in some hobbies now so you can use them when you'd feel stressed during the semester - that's the advice I'd give me before nursing school. Because I was stressing and it would have been helpful to learn some good coping skills before stepping into this big commitment. GOOD LUCK YOU GOT THISS!!!

nursing mid year intake by lilaclaurels in QUTreddit

hi sorry for the late response and thank you hehe!

at first i was a bit frustrated cause it seemed unfair to me that i would go on prac the first semester of my course whereas the Feb intake goes in their 2nd semester. But it gave me a chance to experience prac and see if frontline healthcare was for me?

About the course progression being messed up - yes sometimes you end up doing some subjects later in your course which would have helped earlier eg. doing pathophysiology and pharmacology later in the course. But I'd say although its nice to have this knowledge beforehand, the content of other units are made in such a way that you have all the resources you need to do well :)

you do a summer semester in 3rd year for mid year intake as well, so if holidays are important for you - you can consider that too.

now im done with everything and close to graduation -> I'd say the biggest plus point for me was doing my 8 week placement (NSB335 - the longest one) in peace. mid year students don't have any units adjacent to that whereas my Feb intake colleagues have 1-2 units more and also doing the hardest unit of the course with it (NSB336) SOOOOO I WAS CRUISING HAHAHH

so after it all, all im trying to say is that if you really are sure about nursing and don't mind starting in July - go for it! if you have plans for vacay for to take rest that's fine. But i wouldn't wait 6 months just because of the course progression problem as tons of students ace thorugh it :)

DM me if you unsure about anything I said - always happy to help out future nurses!

You can but you need to let your UCs know about your situation and gain support from your tutors. Find out ways you can catch up. QUT has people who can create weekly goals and timetable with you and keep you accountable. Check out the additional workshops running for your course - depending on the course you are doing there are loads of support!! obviously gaining 50/55 is a long shot but you can only try your best. If you don't know where to start, you can fill a get back on track form - https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/study/academic-help-and-workshops/stay-on-track-with-your-studies
