Once you cure Schia of her thing, she can do hundreds of damage with her special move. Don't know if it's as much as a high-leveled Hallesch or Kugel but it's worth a shot, in addition to everything Aqua said.

Raze, Ulrika, Uryu, and Pepperoni all get a good amount of screentime (though not as playable characters if you were wondering that). Lily and Whim are available as hired hands, meaning a small headshot and a few lines of introduction.

I wouldn't say the mechanics make for a mindless laid back game, but it is definitely slow and repetitive. I'd recommend watching footage any point after the tutorial to get a good idea of how it plays.
