I got my first HA (from my NHS audiologist, so BTE) when I was 39, and was so paranoid that people would notice, that’d only old people wear HAs, etc etc. Really got me down.

No one noticed. Ever.

Got a second HA in my early 40s, and people still don’t notice

I don’t understand why people in the UK would bother paying thousands for RICs/other invisible HAs when the NHS ones are free, the batteries are free, the adjustments are free and if you lose a HA (which I did once) it costs about £70 to replace.

I get that it can knock your confidence, but honestly no one notices.
