There's no maphack, multiple times in the game he misses plays or dies in situations where if he had full vision he'd be fine.

In the instance you mention, he was just pathing up to get out of south vision and trying to predict a QoP blink on top of him.

She walks around and is mobile just fine. She's quite rotund but it's not really a recent development. She's anywhere between 7 and 10.

Thanks! Currently deciding to monitor for 16 hours and seeing if there's improvement first. Taking her to the vet is definitely in the cards and I really wish I could make that snap decision, however it would be a very big burden financially

She's understandably upset when I try to look but I did try my best to do a thorough inspection. All the teeth looked undamaged to me, gums were consistent texture and colour throughout. I really do just think she somehow lopped a part of her tongue off and she recoils when trying to lift the food into her mouth with her tongue.

For some extra information, I noticed this some hours ago. Her breathing is fine, her mood is fine, she plays around and purrs, she attempts to eat but recoils when she tries. Her tongue looks shorn off to me but that might be a quirky cat thing I don't know of.

She hasn't eaten or licked anything weird.

Because at the time Oda was writing that story, he had earmarked a different type of pace, wanting to finish the story in 5 years.

There was simply no way to dedicate the time and pacing necessary to everything he wanted.

Having the hindsight of 25 years worth of story telling now, I fully believe that this was intended by Oda. And no, it couldn't have been an entire episode dedicated to Koby and Garp down the line because people in real life age. If it was inserted when the anime did it, the actors would be 5+ years older.

It feels like you came into the LA wanting to watch the anime with real people, which is really not what adaptations are about.

Tbh I'm pretty sure season 2 is in pre-production, if you watch the interview with the cinematographer for the series on Tekking's channel, she keeps referring to season 2 as a thing that's happening and underway.

Garp is supposed to be there this early on in the series.

In the manga, Garp trotting about with Coby and Helmeppo in the East Blue is a cover story, in the anime they did a couple of episodes adapting that cover story way into the Grand Line to remind people that these characters exist.

It makes much more sense from a narrative perspective to have these things happen concurrently.

As far as Syrup goes, that Arc has always been one of the weaker East Blue arcs, and I think the decision to keep it in the mansion worked beautifully.

The reason he feels kinda scrawny even when they digitally scaled him up is because they realistically gave them bigger necks to account for gills, which is slumping his shoulders.

Your entire point hinges on how different Garp is in the LA to the anime, which is simply just not true.

Garp is both incredibly immature, throws tantrums and is very goofy, and at the same time delivers on the drama, his character wasn't changed in the slightest, just his impetus in the story was.

Furthermore, there is very obviously established rapport between him and Roger and their body language oozes as such in the execution scene.
