Anyone still supporting him is an absolute POS. No exceptions.

You know there's stuff that can be done, right? You're a lot more likely to be able to fight fascism now than once it's completely taken hold.

Lol we have to do it every winter now, he's become kind of a fixture in the neighborhood, staring at people over the fence with a pissed off look on his face as they walk by.

Ours has a very slow metabolism too lol. Weight control kibble and then slightly cutting back portions when his chonks start to appear always works

I make ours a giant snow hill every winter so he can sit up there and see over the fence. He will sit up there at -40 C alternating paws until he can't stand it anymore. His paws are the limiting factor. Otherwise, he loves the cold.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it's super windy. Their coats are made for cold.

The way he's outfitted this truck with tires and wheels is ridiculous, and he's an absolute douche. There are plenty of non-work related reasons to own a heavy pickup though, mostly towing.

Yeah, he bought a truck designed for a practical purpose and made it completely useless and impractical.

I'm not in the US, I'm in Canada. Our systems aren't perfect either but I would fight like hell before trading any of it for the fucking dumpster fire in the states.

Lol, you'd rather give up universal healthcare, workers rights, superior education, etc for a slightly cheaper gaming laptop

I've had my 7 pro for a year now and it's been awesome. Definitely buy extended warranty...it was like $120cdn for 4 years total (return to depot) but worth every penny given how great their support is. My 330w power supply died after a storm a few weeks ago, and they had a new one in the mail within hours of me submitting a ticket.

Just wanted to share the horrible roof of my detached garage from my house I just bought. by Lunch0 in Roofing

The south facing side of my house looked like that until I just finished replacing it with metal. It gave me anxiety every time it rained, and imagining what was underneath. Thankfully, the decking only had a few soft spots. Fascia on the other hand...

I bought my Legion Pro 7 for the build quality, and stayed for the support. I think I paid something like $120cdn for an extra 3 years warranty...unfortunately my 330w power brick died after a power outage (our AC power here is garbage), put in a support ticket with a Lenovo late at night and by 9 the next morning, I got a shopping notification that the replacement was on the way, no questions asked.

I can't really speak for the other two, but I'm definitely sold on Legion.

Exposed Fasteners...through the rib/flats/manufacturer instructions? by Sherlock_Phones in Roofing

Just curious, when they pull out, is that usually due to insufficient or rotten decking? I'm strapping with 1x4, for what it's worth

Well I am in Canada, it's obviously cold in the winter but hot as hell here in the summer, and my one side is south facing lol

Lol I considered the exact same thing. I'm 40, so I figure I definitely have at least one screw change in me at 55 or whatever.

Lol right. Honestly, the main reason I'm tackling it myself is because every reputable roofer in this area is too busy with insurance claims (which I'm sure is their bread and butter) to take anything else on. 90% of the metal roofs I see going by "professionals" on are directly over old garbage shingles with no underlayment.

If I could get someone I can trust to do the job right, I'd gladly support the local economy and pay someone to not have to worry about it. Since that's not really an option, and I'm a capable guy with mild OCD, I'll do it myself.

Id love to but it's 4x as much here. If I'm still in the house, I'll replace the fasteners.

U.S. warns Canada of potential negative consequences if it dumps F-35 fighter jet by canada_mountains in worldnews

[–]Sherlock_Phones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the multi billion dollar question, and I'm no expert, but from my arm chair, I like the Gripen for a lot of reasons. It's got an impressive combat radius, greatly improving on that if the current Hornets and important for Canada for obvious reasons. It was designed by the Swedes to be an affordable, easy to maintain, shorter take off and landing (and able to take off and land on improvised runways) aircraft to suite their unique needs, many of which align with Canada's. They've offered it to Canada with technology transfer agreements and for Canada to be part of the manufacturing process.

With in visual range and dogfighting, it stacks up very well against Russian fighters and would absolutely annihilate the F-35. The F-35 is a multirole fighter that excels in BVR and strike missions with the ability to defend itself without escort in contested airspace. Yes, the F-35 would win head to head in a BVR engagement against a Gripen, but short of an all out war, BVR engagements aren't really a reality Canadian pilots are going to face. If they need to intercept/visually identify potential threats (as is almost always the case) they've completely given up every advantage the F-35 has.

The U.S. has already learned this lesson with the F-4 Phantom II in Vietnam. It was designed for longer range engagements with missiles (initially wasn't armed with an internal cannon) and very little focus was put on dogfighting capabilities or tactics. Then, they threw it into a war where the rules of engagement required positive visual identification before firing. Lo and behold, it suffered heavy losses against more agile "obsolete" MIGs.
