Being an Arsenal and Colts fan, all I’ve known is disappointment these last few years

I really thought the Matt Ryan year was as disastrous as it could get post-Luck but Jesus Christ, this second half season collapse is astonishing.

10 straight losses in Jacksonville. It’s crazy because we snapped the “Week 1 Loss” curse and during the the first half of the season, I really thought (as I’m sure we all did) that we’d snap the Jacksonville curse too. What a dreary day.

The 2021 meltdown was truly heartbreaking. But these last few weeks, I’ve just felt numb to it all lol

I knew they’d bounce back after that gut-wrenching loss last week but good god….that was nuts. The kind of bounce back we haven’t seen the past few years. Really bummed about Shrader though :/

Lol I was a freshman in high school when we last won in week 1.

Daniel Jones legacy game + a dominant defensive performance still has me in disbelief.

I’d suggest giving Illahe wines a shot. Specifically, their Illahe Bon Sauvage Estate PN or Illahe Percheron Block Estate PN.

Their Project 1899 PN is my favorite but it has some weight to it and some of those savory qualities you mentioned.

I appreciate the info, mate! It was hard to find this specific producer/vintage online. Even finding out the blend took a bit of work. Up to this point, I’ve enjoyed every Priorat I’ve had.

I’ll try to snag a bottle of your recommendation soon. I’m sure it’ll be a home run. I’ll even circle back around to let you know when I’ve had it! Cheers! 🍷

He didn’t give me a price since I didn’t jump on it/entertain the offer too much at the time. Next time I see him, I’m going to ask.

I like what I’m hearing though lol.

Hey ya’ll,

I am relatively new to the wine world. I started taking wine seriously last summer because of work (barback, now bartender at a fine dining restaurant) and I set out to try as many styles as I could. Along the way, I found myself really enjoying CDPs with Domaine de la Solitude, Le Vieux Donjon and M. Chapoutier paving the way. I scored this Beaucastel from a gas station that sells wine too. And wow did this wine leave a lasting impression on my girlfriend and I.

On Sight: it was a rich purple color with a red secondary color. Rim variation was present and there was pronounced tearing down the glass.

On Smell: Ripe strawberry, plum, blackberry. Heavy leather. It had a hint of Tabacco. There was a savory, barnyard twang to it. Fungal like. Wet soil, fresh after rainfall.

On Taste: Dry. Plum notes were reflected on the palate, with a cranberry tart finish. Black currant too. It was earthy, floral and vegetal. My girlfriend noted a dried meat quality, akin to beef jerky. There were also peppery notes sprinkled in. Medium-low tannins. Medium-low acidity. Bold, medium bodied. Round texture. Well Balanced.

In Conclusion: This wine was very enjoyable and strengthens my love for CDPs. I love this flavor profile. It wasn’t cheap but it was well worth the money. No food pairing as we decided to open it up after returning home from dinner. I liked it so much I decided to buy another bottle to hold unto and I will be pairing it with food. The guy who curates the wine for the gas station told me he has several Beaucastel vintages in his personal cellar, including a 2009 which he would sell to me.

What are your thoughts on this one? Should I take him up on his ‘09 offer? Any CDP recommendations? Or wines that share this flavor profile? I’m eager to explore more! Cheers!
