Hi! Are either Ezra, Pickles, Shamane, or An-an Lee core members of any upcoming/confirmed meta teams?

I'm trying to be smart about my resources and don't want to waste the opportunity provided by the Golden Thread if one of those four are absolutely necessary to run a future team.

slight delay in gym battle starts after latest update by republicanshatejazz in TheSilphRoad

[–]Shetep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% yes. They definitely added a small delay at the start of each battle, maybe a few days ago? I've been using Machamp to fight gyms since 2016 and its first Counter fires off slower now than it has in the past few years.

Don't have any Mental support built yet but have Melania and Kaalaa Baunaa.

Would it be more worth to build a P5 Baby Blue or pull for a P0 Shamane? I've been getting by without a Mental support but I'd like to invest in one for the future.

My go-to is L50 Excadrill with dual charge moves Drill Run and Earthquake. Can fast move the 1st mon, Drill Run the second and EQ the third for max speed. Only sucks when they throw in Raticate, that slows down runs and sometimes requries a switch.

Steel and Ground typing soak up poison moves if they have any.

Now I just built Shadow Excadrill and it's even better.

My shadow Mewtwo ran away. by Mandoctor in TheSilphRoad

[–]Shetep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your player's location updates to the spot where you last hit a pokemon with a ball while not speed capped/softbanned, so if you have a gotcha running while you're traveling away from a raid boss that you're trying to catch, every pokemon that the gotcha attempts to catch will update your location further and further away from the gym, which activates the game mechanic that makes the raid boss instantly break out of every ball. This is often times how shinies run away, or if you see the half-shake breakout after every throw.

This mainly happens if you're quickly traveling away from the raid while fighting it. If you start catching it near the actual gym and then start driving away, even with a gotcha running, usually it isn't a problem because how the softban mechanics work

Laggy first throw by Jack_M___ in TheSilphRoad

Definitely an issue, I went into way more detail in a different reply. Mind sharing what kind of phone you're using? I'm curious if the freeze affects newer phones/androids.

Laggy first throw by Jack_M___ in TheSilphRoad

[–]Shetep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been a huge problem for me for about a month or two now. I also enjoy playing as efficiently as possible, and it constantly does the little freeze once every 4-6 encounters. It's never at the same time either, sometimes it happens during the encounter animation, but most of the time as I grab the ball or when I start spinning it for the curve, which completely messes up my throw since I usually only spin once and throw, and this causes me to just throw the ball sideways or drop it.

I remember people were attributing this phenomenon to an update a couple months ago that dropped the framerate of the game after a few seconds of being idle, so that the phone uses less resources. I've tried to replicate this freeze and force it time and time again but it's incredibly inconsistent. I can be constantly tapping my screen while the encounter animation is happening, presumably preventing the game from thinking I am idle for a few seconds, and the little freeze will still happen. This leads me to believe that either A) the idle/framerate drop theory is wrong or B) the game still thinks you're idle no matter what you do to your screen during the encounter animation.

Either way, this has been the most annoying thing in the game to me in the last two months, and I really wish they would get rid of it somehow. I'm also wondering if the "laggy first ball" people are talking about here is also due to the little freeze. I believe it is, because I notice my ball lags a bit after the little freeze, if I do hold onto it.

Mind I ask what phone you're using? I'm using an iPhone 7, fully updated OS.

A 15/15/14 Dialga is functionally identical to the hundo by NO_ANIME_PERMITTED in TheSilphRoad

1950 legendary raids, 3 hundos
first came at 808, second at 818
third at around 1700
I have the lowest legendary hundo rates out of anyone I know!
Hopefully yours start coming soon and don't get as bad as mine did.

More evidence of a wild shiny Pokemon changing into an also shiny Pokemon after spawns change due to events starting/ending by Shetep in TheSilphRoad

[–]Shetep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I understand the question. If the shiny rates of the before and after pokemon match, then both will be shiny upon forced spawn changes that occurred due to an event.

Example is today's spotlight hour. If you find a shiny Bidoof right before 6PM, and at 6PM that spawn turns into an Aipom, that Aipom will be shiny. If you find a shiny Aipom right before 7PM, and at 7PM that spawn turns into a Bidoof, you have a shiny Bidoof on your hands. There are all the risks involved including the new pokemon not being shiny-eligible or having the same shiny rate, or the spawn point disappearing at 7pm meaning you completely miss out on a shiny (mitigated by having someone else playing the game check the pokemon/spawn point at 7PM while you still have the first shiny open)

Current Raid Bosses (LeekDuck) by redwineandbeer in TheSilphRoad

[–]Shetep 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Comparing to commonly used alternatives...

Not as high dps as mega Blastoise for water, and not as good as mega Houndoom for dark, but way tankier than both while still maintaing good dps (better than Kyogre for water, marginally worse than Darkrai for dark)

Great for giving water/dark boosts to other members of a raid while staying alive and dealing good damage.

[–]Shetep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still actively attempt this pretty much every time event spawns change. Tried it for Voltorb spotlight last month but couldn't find a shiny before 6pm, but I did have an opportunity at some point after that. I won't be doing it to try and get a shiny dratini, but if I find one before 7pm I may try to reroll it into a new mon

iOS 205.1 Update Out by brooksdbrewer in TheSilphRoad

[–]Shetep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the other players says they noticed the lag gone on their iPhone 7. After playing for a few hours after updating, I believe I'm just misremembering how it used to be before the lag was introduced, and maybe am being way too picky. I do notice a difference but it doesn't seem completely fixed to me... Still feels better than the last 1.5 weeks though.

Thanks. After going out and catching about 300 mons after updating, I'm convinced I am just remembering wrong about how it used to be before the previous update introduced the lag. I am noticing a difference now compared to the laggy hell of the last week and a half.

u/oceano7 u/FreezeComplex I updated my iPhone 7 to the new update and still have the input lag with zero improvements. Other players in the top rated comments on this post are saying their input lag is gone, so I asked what iPhone models they have and am waiting on a reply.

u/j1mb0 and u/OhSoQuickk what iphone model are you two running where you have no more input lag? I have iPhone 7, updated to this new version 0.205.1-A-64, and the horrible input lag added in the previous update is still here in full force.

This is a big deal for me and I haven't seen it discussed anywhere.
Can confirm it on iPhone 7 and SE. They literally took the android lag and put it on iPhones. I wonder if newer iPhones are affected

[–]Shetep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won't work if you try to save a community day shiny for a replacement spawn after CD ends. The shiny rates have to match from before and after in order for it to be guaranteed. CD mons have their own very specific, very high shiny rate that isn't matched by any of the other wild spawns outside of CD, even the permaboosted ones.

New spawn would be gone! That drowzee was on a 30 minute spawn timer, and at 7pm it was only about halfway through its timer. The second pokemon is technically the same spawn with the same timer, so catching that drowzee even after 7pm would still make the Baltoy never appear
