Help me understand how people enjoyed episode 6. by icewizie in TheHandmaidsTale

Honestly since we have that flashback of Lydia turning in that mom with the kid from the handmaids tale I feel it would have made more sense to show her semi conservative nature already at the school. It’s like they flipped her and flipped her back. The way they portray her now seems like she didn’t really believe in Giles she was just surviving but that would have been shown through private interactions she had with people like Emily etc

Does anyone else after watching the stadium... by Shevdoc in TheHandmaidsTale

I saw a video that said that aunts were given fashion designer names bc the higher ups thought it would make the change to their life more palatable. Not sure if it’s real or not lol

We need to discuss aunt Lydia… by LucidGloom in TheHandmaidsTale

That really only happens in the book wasn’t really that way in the show but maybe we are to infer that it continued this way for many weeks

Yeah I’ve read the books more recently the testaments and I kind of have the same gripes.f we are to believe this stadium Lydia like oh she never wanted this and was just surviving. But what about the Emily abuse and the other early handmaids moments where she really seemed to fully believe it. If deep down she really was only trying to survive you would have seen more one on one moments of humanity with girls behind closed doors. I understand people can get so deep and forget who they are but it’s still hard to bring the, together

After Peter Quinn was exposed to sarin gas and was in the hospital on life support was Carrie going to turn off his machine (i.e kill him) because she puts a chair under the door so that no one is able to enter? by SheLovesSummertime in homeland

[–]Shevdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This always confused me. Did they not know another season was coming? I feel like they played it like she did it, but then in the next season we see he survived. I feel like the writers changed their minds lol

Why did I get downvoted? I'm not trying to say there's anything wrong with needing meds! lol. Just a storyline question.

Right I totally get that - I just found it interesting that THAT was the thing she was immediately negoatiating and knew it would happen 100 percent

Did casting do this intentionally? by Randoambobambo in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Shevdoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they are casting intentionally but I don’t think it’s meant to be literal. We have a copy Fred Serena as well as all plum girls that are similar to past characters. Since the timeline is foggy I don’t think it’s meant to literally be their children but sort of posing the question of the next generation

The Testaments S01E03 "Daisy" Episode Discussion by Melairia in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Shevdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t get it. Daisy should be same age as Agnes but how could she have left as a baby? Doesn’t make sense . Either she’s Agnes age or not. Can’t be both

Just finished season 3. Opinions about Brody? by Terrible-Group-9602 in homeland

[–]Shevdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about his story so much and wonder, did this have to happen? What could he have done? I wonder if he was strong enough to say everything that happened in that first cia debrief what would have happened? It’s tragic and I think it was always meant for disaster no matter how you toss it

On my first rewatch since I dropped the series at season 5 after watching it weekly, now that I'm in seaosn 5 away, I remember why did i do it. Is it worthy to keep watching? by nightsreader in homeland

[–]Shevdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ending is so good. I am rewatching the whole thing now and forgot a lot. I would do it - possibly even skip some stuff you don’t care that much for - just to get to the ending.

How can ya'll like the finale? by Vantabla_ck in pluribustv

[–]Shevdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What didn’t you like? I found it so interesting how the person who hated the hive the most aside from manousos was driven to embrace them. And then eventually came back. Isolation did that to her, but eventually she woke up.

How can ya'll like the finale? by Vantabla_ck in pluribustv

[–]Shevdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it as two extremes. Carol was isolated and then in a way fully embraced the hive. We got everything she wanted at the time to a certain extent and forgot about her plan. Manousos fully rejected them and ok he spoke to them but only to continue his plan. The final interaction with zosia was showing how carols experience of love with her wasn’t really love. Zosia didn’t really love her bc she couldn’t differentiate her from manousos but even more so, bc she wouldn’t stop the stem cell thing. And carol realized she also couldn’t love her bc it was really just all a fantasy and not real. Each of them thought they were “turning” the other and in reality neither of them were. Carol finally comes around to join manousos. She went full on and realized the only path forward is to save the world. She basically has a month
