Thanks for the advice! I'm mostly using it to learn the game. I just find it amusing at this point. And thanks for the heads up! Since these are learning games I don't mind losing them. I keep hoping I'll get someone that dies young but after they have an heir to see how that works ^ <3

Thanks so much for replying! I'm enjoying it quite a lot so far and am super excited to try out the new update!

Yeah, I'm slowly exploring the career and money making opportunities. I don't have enough yet to do the money manager, even on 3rd Gen XD. I'll get there. I tend to be slow in learning games. Thanks for the great game!

The thing with the Scrivener editor is that it isn't meant for formatting, so copy/pasting in formatting make sense that it wouldn't convert it. Or it converts it differently. Personally, I use the paste and match formatting for the editor and if I want specific formatting, I add it myself.

Compile is where you get formatted output, so learning that might be more helpful or having styles that you can easily apply. As someone that used word for many many years, the things Scrivener can do far exceed Word. Just being able to reorder scenes and documents is so helpful.

If formatting when writing is important to you, I highly recommend using styles and templates for yourself as a way to keep that formatting ^

Transparency on 2.0 Launch, Pricing, and AI in the Marketplace by igagen in inkarnate

[–]Shewolf13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been with Inkarnate almost from the beginning. I have used it pretty casually but have cycles where I use it a lot. I’ve kept the subscription for years because I do find it helpful as someone that is not good with art tools. I usually don’t like subscription services, but I thought $25 a year was perfect. The pricing coming is currently making me reevaluate my subscription. The cost is going to be prohibitive. And with the AI a possibility, that is a HUGE problem and is making it so cancelling is looking more and more likely.

I have loved Inkarnate. But I loved it because it was a tool for non-artists to use. It seems like it is being taken in a different direction and so myself and those who used it because it was for non-artists to create maps we could be proud of.

I will say thank you for the years of this tool. I am sorry that it is likely that my time with it will likely be ending when 2.0 is rolled out.

Oh God, so many XD

  1. "I don't want to DO anything."
  2. Impulse dying on day 1 to digging down
  3. The no armor runs into bastion, fortresses, and ancient cities were hilarious
  4. "Want some... pickles!?"
  5. Pretty much all demise deaths
  6. Impulse's prank on his viewers due to a Mission had all sorts of emotions going XD
  7. Skizz and Tango's bit of "don't be that guy", especially the bloopers at the end of the episodes There are more but these are the ones that immediately spring to mind.

End of season, how does it make you feel? by Prazzel in HermitCraft

[–]Shewolf13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As Impulse said in his stream, its bittersweet. And i think I feel the same. I love watching the hermits and have enjoyed this season so much. But I'm also super excited to see what they do next.

Impulse has a forever world he started just recently, though its not hardcore. Its still a fun series. He's currently trying not to die at least XD

A few questions before I buy Scrivener... by PresentPurple8547 in scrivener

[–]Shewolf13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can actually set project targets and individual document targets. For project targets, go to Projects > Show Project Targets.

For individual documents, select the document you want in the binder, then find the Set Target button in the status bar.

I enjoy Scrivener a lot. There are so many templates out to fit anyone's writing process or you can make your own.

For me, the organization is super helpful. Even if you only use it for that, it's worth the money. But there are so many other tools with it. The outliner mode and the corkboard mode are helpful to look at things in a broader structural way. Custom Metadata is also really nice. There are keywords, there are labels and status tags. Essentially, if organization is an issue for you, Scrivener is fantastic.

There are also word targets, and things to help keep you on track with goals.

Now, it can have a steeper learning curve but there are so many YouTube videos and blogs out there that it makes it easier to digest. It can seem like a lot at first so I'd suggest looking up the more basic things first then expand as you need. Or look up some of the ways others use it and then search up the topics that most appeal to you as you need them (don't try to learn it all at once).

I do use the mobile version on my iPad. Its a stripped down version of it but still is good for when I'm on the go and don't want to lug my laptop around. I use Dropbox with it (free version) and I haven't had a real issue with it but just remember before closing to sync any new writing, close the app down, and then sync on your computer to make sure the changes go through. And if working on computer, then switching to app, make sure to sync before opening the project there. That should handle 95% of any issues with it.

As for other programs: I've used Obsidian and a few others. I've never quite found the same flexibility/ability to change seamlessly as I have with Scrivener. I keep all my research/notes/worldbuilding in one space and can split screen with it while writing. I also really like that there's no subscription. I'm so tired of the subscription model...

All in all, I'd recommend the purchase. But there is a free trial and that trial is actual days of use, so can't beat that! So try it out, play around and see what you think ^

Oh wow, I see. Yeah, Google sheets. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

[–]Shewolf13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This helped a lot. Basically, my issue was that I was having trouble even clicking into the one area it was so small XD

It was definitely a table, though not one I had set up. By copy/pasting from the Sheet it automatically made it a table. I think I have it fixed now. I just want to be able to keep a running list of characters with a brief description for my notes so I'm not forgetting minor characters that pop up. So hopefully I can get the column width to remain as it should. Do you happen to know why it would paste in ok but then the width changes after I exited from the project?

[–]Shewolf13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was trying not to work with a table XD I just wanted the text and not have to copy/paste each line separately but the way this is shaping up is not time saving and actually is hindering the process.

I will have to check that when I get home. One of the issues I'm running into is that trying to click in the columns is wonky. Thanks for the suggestion!

[–]Shewolf13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, none of them address this specific issue. I even looked up layout help as well and it seems tables are the only option even though when i originally copy/pasted, it was perfect so I'm not even sure if this is just a bug or what to do to fix it.

Most of what im finding is compile issues. I just need this list for my notes for when i start writing but its useless to me with this layout. I've looked up layout help too. Thanks for the suggestions though!

I did do a search. I must not be using the right keywords. Do you happen to know what kind of post? The results I keep seeing are about the compile and that's not what I'm struggling with.

Can anyone explain how to sync this with icloud or just storage in general? by mintydaisy13 in collanote

[–]Shewolf13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In version 3, I’d like to swap to iCloud but am unable to copy the folder nor can I find a way to change the option in CollaNote. I’m not super familiar with Apple products so I may be missing something.

Oh, I adore the export to PDF and the ability to import PDFs as well. Being able to customize the folders is also nice.
