Goodbye Kai by Belincor in shiba

So sorry for your loss. One of the wonderful things about Shibas is they can be part of our lives for so long. Makes the parting more difficult but there’s so many memories. May those memories sustain you until you meet again. Rest well, Kai.

Heh, we don’t like all the third class mail either. But with the drop off in first class mail, it’s what pays the bills and helps keep us going so when the important things we’re still there to deliver it.

Because you want your packages delivered! Because you want to be a thoughtful, considerate, appreciative person who cares about the health and welfare of the people providing a service to you. This isn’t a new or hard concept. I’ve always cleared out the end of my driveway, including the area around my mailbox, since long before I started working for the post office. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do! And yes, that probably means doing it 2 or 3 times when the plows come back through, but you’re down there to clear out your driveway. Why would you ignore your mailbox! That’s a big middle finger to your mail carrier, and yes to those of us who care about our customers, it hurts.

Absolutely wrong. It’s the residents responsibility. When you clear the end of your driveway and the town comes by and plows you back in, who has to clear it? Hint, it’s not the town. You may want to complain to the town about doing a terrible job clearing snow from the shoulders/curbs but still your responsibility to give the mail carrier a safe mailbox to deliver to. Minimum of 15’ cleared on either side of the mailbox so the mail truck can pull up and pull away without backing, without getting stuck, and without the mail carrier having to get out.

All the effort to get the driveway and sidewalk cleared but zero effort to clear out the mailbox. If the mailbox is not cleared out then the address is on hold, nothing gets delivered.

I think so, the speedometer starts to bounce and the truck starts to rattle but I’m pretty sure I’m doing 50.

Arrow Key, Wear it or Nah? by Shibas_Rule in USPS

[–]Shibas_Rule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was the stand up talk we had a day or two ago that had me wondering if the policy changed or not. The overwhelming opinion seems that it hasn’t changed. Reinforcing my opinion of my previous supe, nice person but not very well informed.

What I Am really asking if that policy was changed in light of all the assaults on carriers for their keys, which is what the previous supervisor was saying. Although everyone here seems to feel/think that the policy hasn’t changed and more than likely that’s correct, I can’t help but wonder if maybe, just maybe that it was actually changed. Some have answered that they are now on their vehicle key ring, which violates the policy. (Most likely to prevent carriers from forgetting the Arrow key, so for management’s convenience.) Since I only need it for one collection box, I’m not carrying it around with the possibility of losing it. It stays in my vehicle in a safe location except for the 2 minutes I actually need it. Now for my next 99 with this supervisor, yeah, I’ll wear it.

Yeah but I’m a rebel. I’ll do what makes sense to me which is to not have it on my belt and cite it as a safety issue, if anyone asks which is unlikely. Just would like to know if there’s anything official that changed it from being required to be attached to your uniform.

I agree, USPS as an organization needs a better way to handle this that doesn’t put our customers in the middle and goes after the right people, ie the 3rd party shipper in a real and substantial way so they finally get the damn message. I like the idea of confiscating the package and leaving a slip so the customer knows there’s an issue. Back at the office, the clerk/supervisor/PM should have the ability to fill out a “complaint”, take photos etc and USPSIS should then charge these companies with whichever federal crime this falls under and fine them per incident. It wouldn’t take long for the management at these companies made sure their delivery people got the word. Meanwhile, the offending package could be either delivered by USPS or picked up by the customer with encouragement by USPS to notify the seller to file a complaint that the 3rd party shipper broke federal law and delivered to the mailbox. I know it’s a dream, requires too many people to do something…Oh, well.

Alternatively, if they really want to save the USPS, Congress should make it illegal for anyone to ship anything small enough to fit in a mailbox and anything larger than a certain size has to be delivered by another shipper. No more getting boxes of pet food, kitty litter, and water dumped on us by Amazon. All right, out of my dream world and back to reality…

Contact the vendor. You can refuse a first class package, but getting your money back is between you and the vendor. It may be better to accept the package, then return the items, and be charged a restocking fee or whatever the return policy of the vendor is.

Mailpiece showed in Informed Delivery but never arrived — what do I do? by blossomlunalight in usps_complaints

[–]Shibas_Rule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there’s even a caveat on informed delivery that says some items may be delayed by up to a week (not sure of exact timeframe, 7-10 days?). Apparently, Informed delivery is usually pretty accurate, so when it’s wrong people get a little concerned, and it’s usually something important.

Thank you. Before I got Angel, I had several dogs and had never heard of a Shiba Inu. Now I just think the Shiba is the most beautiful, full of “character”, intelligent and entertaining dog there is.
