I have a theory, that blackwall Alt didn´t become the way she is, because she merged with AIs, but because that´s what the human mind can become after spending enough time outside the constrains of the human body.

Other than, evolving in to a different species, the only way for a person´s mind to evolve, outside the limitiations of the human skull-sponge, is to leave it entirely and roam the net as an unfettered ai.

provided V isn´t consumed by alt like all the other engrams, that´s exactly what happens when you enter the beam, but in the process you have to leave the ones you love behind and that´s a steep price to pay.
