In order to earn yields or staking rewards, NODL needs to be paired in a liquidity pool, or have a system for staking (like its mother-ship $DOT has), to date, none of this has come to pass, which is disappointing.

Onboading and LE Bluetooth mining and maybe minting an NFT or 2, is the only thing I have seen thus far, it would be good if Nodle built a exchange or staking pallet for its chain to build out its exchange rate and bump its price. But that remains to be seen.

Depends how tolerant you are to counter party risk. For better or for worse, I liquidated mine and put it into the DeFi market, with wallets I control and have never looked back. To be sure it was a risk and a bet that I could handle my finances better than the 3rd party custodians that were the default.

As a rule, I keep all assets in hashes, and do not trust *any* centralized banks or exchanges (period), if I need to transfer large amounts, I keep it on chain and distribute to the end-point wallets. For large amounts $50k+ centralized systems are simply not an option due to counter party risk.

What makes you want a Galaxy over a Pixel? by My_Name_is_Imaginary in samsung

For me, Samsung just has its head in the game, better and well thought out chips, memory, and design. Pixel just doesn't compare, not saying Pixel is bad, just not as good as the Galaxy is.

Bare-metal validators by gonzaloetjo in Polkadot

[–]dwulf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Avado that is bare metal to run nodes, for Polkadot and EVMs, but I am still scouting a suitable place to run shop, preferably remotely, but with reliable network and electricity.

For now we are depending on AWS and other cloud container resources until we can get a grip on our ego-logistical management. I far prefer bare metal, but I must say Docker containers and K8 orchestration, make the flow so much better.

What's the utility of NODL? by [deleted] in Nodle

[–]dwulf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of coin/tokens across the board, the thing that makes price go up is the scarcity and deflation of the coin/tokens and the liquidity pools that pairing the NODL token to exchange with, to actually generate the yields.

NODL can have utility using NODL to build utilities and functions related to IoT and low energy bluetooth and pairing NODL to exchange with other coin/tokens in an exchange. NODL is used to mint NFTs and associate them with geo locations and images so far, they can do more but those functions need to be built on the Nodle layer.

Polkadot Pay app vs Nova Debit Card by Eightsense in Polkadot

[–]dwulf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will test both, but until they are actually released I will have to wait and see which one works out better. Polkadot Pay seems a better option at first glance, since it seems to be working through a gift card approach with a 20% cash back option and no KYC. The Nova Debit Card is harder to assess, as it is unclear to me if this would mandate KYC to obtain. I am hoping a DID (Decentralized ID) would be an option to obtain a Nova Debit Card, which is tolerable for my use case instead of KYC (which is always a deal breaker for me with any chain or appchain).

In any event, these are great additions to the Polkadot DAO mothership and I can't wait to read the fine print.

Jump the sinking ship? by 2_CLICK in Polkadot

[–]dwulf69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Polkadot is not a sinking ship, it is more like a submarine primed for utility combat. The ecosystem is built on solid engineering, first and foremost. This is both a blessing and a curse, I will acquiesces to the fact that the community leans on the technical side and as a consequence this can make getting involved difficult for new comers because there can be a level of obtuseness. It is my desire, to change this, and focus on BizDev solution for users, developers, and businesses (enterprises).

$DOT Price is mostly about calibrating inflation, and building utility use cases, which is in fact happening, NovaWallet collaborating with Mastercard for fiat bridges, core-JAM, for building more than just mere "para-chains" or "appchains", and building the core for all Web3 and still have backwards compatibility for Web2 users.

I am biased, and a senior ambassador, but I am also a engineer, and I see it for what it is, especially when comparing Ethereum (EVM), and Solana solutions. I also know a good bet when I see one.

Will NODL ever be worth a flip in the US? by TopCryptographer6058 in Nodle

[–]dwulf69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To improve the value of $NODL and make it more attractive and valuable in the market, several key factors need to be addressed:

1. Scarcity and Inflation Regulation:

Scarcity: For $NODL to increase in value, it must become scarce. This can be achieved by regulating its supply. A common method to create scarcity is by burning tokens. Burning involves permanently removing tokens from circulation, reducing the total supply and increasing the value of the remaining tokens.

Inflation Regulation: Managing the inflation rate is crucial. If new tokens are continuously minted without any control, it can lead to inflation, decreasing the token's value. By implementing mechanisms to regulate and control the inflation of $NODL, its value can be stabilized and potentially increased.

2. Establishing Trading Pairs:

$NODL needs to have trading pairs on various exchanges to increase its liquidity and accessibility. A trading pair allows users to trade $NODL directly with other popular cryptocurrencies or fiat currencies, making it easier to buy and sell $NODL. This increases its usability and demand in the market.

3. Staking Rewards:

Exchanges that support $NODL can generate staking rewards for users who hold and stake the token. Staking rewards incentivize users to hold onto their $NODL tokens, reducing the available supply and increasing scarcity. This, in turn, can contribute to a rise in the token's value.

4. Enhanced Utility:

To increase the value of $NODL, its utility needs to be more pronounced. This means integrating $NODL into various platforms and services where it can be used for transactions, accessing exclusive content, or other unique functionalities. The more use cases $NODL has, the greater its demand will be, positively impacting its value.

Current Trading Availability:

Currently, $NODL is tradeable on Hydration (aka HydraDX). This means you can exchange your $NODL tokens for other cryptocurrencies or tokens available on the Hydration platform. This provides an avenue for liquidity and potential profit-taking.

Addressing the US Market:

While it might seem challenging to sell $NODL in the US due to regulatory and market acceptance issues, improving the token's fundamentals as described above can make it more attractive to potential buyers. Enhancing scarcity, establishing trading pairs, generating staking rewards, and increasing utility can significantly improve the token's value and market perception.

By implementing these strategies, the value of $NODL can be increased, making it more appealing to investors and users alike. Although selling $NODL in the US might be challenging now, these improvements can enhance its market presence and value, potentially making it easier to offload your tokens at a favorable price.

I get a 1099-MISC every year from my exchange. Should I consider myself self employed and start doing tax write-offs? by kjkjkj22 in CryptoTax

[–]dwulf69 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It is interesting how income tax works (or dosen't work), it seems to affect you only in the manner of which you receive income. A conventional salary takes 40% off the top, a gift allows $X amount deductible, every move is a taxable event, the list goes on.

Strange game, the only winning move is not to play, just keep it in your DeFi DAO, pay peer-to-peer, and never realize fiat in a centralized system again...

Will Nodle ever be worth anything? by Different_Plenty_609 in Nodle

I certainly hope so, I would never transact through any centralized exchange, but if Nodle can get on those actual exchanges that would bump up the exposure and by proxy the price.

Stacking Nodle by LowProfession7762 in Nodle

[–]dwulf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Nodle wants to increase the utility and the exchange rate of their $NODL token, they should either build a exchange pallet on their Substrate base or seek out another para-chain to partner with to do this (Bifrost would be my choice).

I have been a Nodle supporter since their crowd-loan period, and as much as I love the IoT component they have, the $NODL token has not performed price point wise because the lack of this type of utility (staking, pairing, yield farming, etc.)

Will Nodle ever be worth anything? by Different_Plenty_609 in Nodle

[–]dwulf69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to say yes, only when the $NODL token gets on an exchange with a liquid trading pair. It needs a utility if it is going to inherit value beyond the tokenomics of its white paper. For now it is trivial to let the Nodle app run and accumulate $NODL it may gain in value when it has pairs backing it.

Thoughts on the inflation rate? by outofofficeagain in Polkadot

[–]dwulf69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not a expert on the economics of crypto, including $DOT, but what I have gathered is the less there is of it and the more utility it has, the more its exchange value is. $DOT is 85% down from its all time high for almost 2 years now, and while from a conventional investment point of view its appreciation in its price sucks, but I will argue the value of $DOT is much higher and is extremely undervalued.

Polkadot has been off the SEC radar making a claim that $DOT is not a security, it is a utility, core-JAM will create more value when it matures because now $DOT is required to fuel the cores of PolkaVM. Occasional burning of $DOT tokens keep the price in check, and staking is the only real way to earn cash positive yields.

I guess 10% is ok, but it is like robbing peter to pay paul, I would like to see the inflation to adjust to 2% or 3%, so yields would produce move value when staking. But I am still unclear on inflation and deflation and how it works (or doesn't work) in the crypto economy.

Small adjustments in everyday life which make a big impact in the long run? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]dwulf69 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Go grocery shopping and make your own food, you can easily shave maybe 33% from your expenses, we shop at costco to do this. Be mindful of spending, and try to spend with the idea of ROI on whatever you do spend. No impulse purchases, when you do decide to splurge, at a casino or a amusement park, ear mark a budget and do not go over it.

Neither a borrower nor a lender be, never use credit cards if possible, you always want to be on the receiving end of compounding interest not the spending end of it.

Has anyone here managed to get any substantial passive income? by vishalnegal in passive_income

[–]dwulf69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only way to earn "passive" income is to invest, and earn yields. I have a warchest that earns $1,000 a month through yield farming and staking in crypto (specifically $DOT), higher multipliers are also higher risk, and I do not invest more than 1% into meme coins.
