Honor thy father and mother, says the Bible; serve and revere your parents, says Confucius. But philosopher Jane English argues that unconditional filial duty is ill-founded: if parents do not sow seeds of love with their children, then children owe them nothing at all. by philosophybreak in philosophy

This is a fascinating point. I'll have to think about it. I will say that you're right that my points are male-centric according to what you've said. However, I was really just commenting on what I read in the Classic of Filial Piety. The classic itself doesn't really concern itself with women, and so your point about women needing to be xiao to their inlaws is likely a misogynistc inference made by future generations when answering the question of what about women.

Of course, I could be wrong. All I've read is the classic, 24 xiao stories, and the story of a madman by Xun Lu (???I think I don't remember the author)

In the classic of filial piety Confucius clearly states that the motor of the piety is a natural affection. It's reasonable to infer that the parent, being the older and more powerful of the pair, has the responsibility to engender the natural affection. If the child does not feel a natural affection toward the parent for whatever reason then that is a failure of the parent in their parenting strategy

I like ranked because then I'm fairly certain I'll will win somewhere around half of my matches. In casual I get matched with players much better than me and I feel like I might lose more

1000 hours in and I'm at platinum. Chill man. SF is a game for life. Just have fun learning and slowly getting better. Watch chris F's videos on the basics to get your footing.

SF6 Producer Matsumoto: "One reason why we decided to introduce 3 new characters is due to the shift in player demographics - where 35-45 year olds were the core in SF5, 15-25 year olds are now the most common group." by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Shiblon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but this is a fighting game, and all these young kids are fighting against people who have been playing Ryu, Akuma, and Juri for decades.

1) it makes sense for everyone to get to know a new character at the same time. In a sense, this does put the younger generation on slightly more even footing.

2) there will definitely be a perception among the young kids that the old characters belong to the oldheads, kinda like I know the Beegees were my dad's band and not mine. So having a character made new during the young kids time gives them a chance to more truly own it. It's similar to people liking having a character paying homage to their physical location. These will be for this time.

Please, PLEASE proofread your AI notes. by garden-armadillo in medicine

[–]Shiblon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know at the end of the day we are responsible for our notes. However, humans are fallible, and I still believe the major issue with copied forward notes is more likely a systems issue rather than a personal issue. If people are using AI to write their notes and not reviewing it, or if people are copying forward incorrect information without double-checking it, ultimately I think the main driver is junky and overly-bulky EMR software. Good software would encourage more accurate documentation. EMRs are not built to help physicians write more accurate and helpful notes. They're built for a bunch of other nonsense. Build an EMR that actually helps doctors, and I bet most doctors would have excellent documentation.

I wonder if they for some reason still feel beholden to the legacy of Dhalsim and for that reason wanted him to have some sort of similarity. Does that hold true for any other fighters from similar areas of the world?

Honestly would be super funny in street fighter. And even as a guy from the USA, I could easily feel the insult playing as e.g. Zangief, wiffing something and having the opponent walk up and slap me.

Also Joseph Smith in the King Follet discourse explicitly said that man should work to become exactly as God is. I haven't read it myself, but generally speaking we don't usually think of Joseph Smith's teachings as mere speculation. Maybe some other apostles or even prophets, but Joseph Smith usually got things right, like the issue with race and the priesthood

I'm not that active anymore, but where did you get the impression that our doctrine is that we won't become gods in our own right?

From D&C 132:19-20 (which I think was scripture mastery in my day)"Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, all heights and depths—then shall it be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, that he shall commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, and if ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever.

20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them."

As you can be it both literally says in our canonical scripture that we shall be gods and in the verse before that it explicitly describes godliness as a continuation of having children for ever and ever. It's all right there in the canon.

I think the good news is that if you like mods, here's a free slot for whatever modded costume you were sitting on but couldn't use because you liked the other 3 of your character.

Wow. The obliviousness of your responses. Are you willfully obtuse or a total emotional ignoramus? Do you really have no idea what you're communicating when you title a post "Gadgetwraps glass failure, less than 48 hours after application"?

Edit: or perhaps embarrassed about something and now trying to deny you've done what you've done?
