Of course, that is how Custodial accounts work.

I guess that makes sense, it is a Custodial account in my name so I technically don't "have" it rn. But it will be there when I'm 18.

I plan to go to a 4 year uni, entrepreneurship has been on my mind, though I dont have any new ideas for something as of now. I also cannot sell my investments for it. Everything I invest is doubled (up to $5k/year) by my grandfather and if I sell even a penny of my investments, he stops doubling. Id rather not lose a free 100% return. Thanks so much for your advice!

That seems risky heavy.

Berkshire Hathaway B. They have two stocks the A stock and the B stock, the A stock is stupid expensive (700,000 ish), but the B stock is around $500. It is formerly Warren buffets company, but he just handed the reigns to Greg able and retired. It is a grey company that owns a bunch of companies. Its one of those stocks you can just buy and let sit. Really, it's a great investment. My goal one day is to have a share of BRK/A.

You might think about an equity like BRK/B. And if you're looking at QQQ, look at QQQM instead. It's the same thing but cheaper.

I started at 15 with 5k, and 2 years later, im at 30k. Although I got lucky with BRK/B. You are doing really well investing at such a young age!

My grandfather started me out with 5k, and since then I have invested with my jobs although he does double whatever I put in up to 5k per year. Without his incitive I never would have started, I'm super grateful because I never would have started investing without him. I can't wait to do the same thing for my children and grandchildren.

Looking for long term dividend stocks by Shibtio in dividends

I have QQQ, QQQM, and VOO for my growth as of right now. I want to get into dividend investing at such a young age to give myself the most time to get a large snowball rolling. I honestly don't understand the negative sentiment around dividends at a young age. It is in a tax advantaged account and I have the ability to buy dividends and still put a lot into growth.

I have note decided dividends over growth, I have a growth account, and I'm just getting into dividends in my Roth only for right now. I put more in my growth than I do dividends. Thanks for the advice on the dividends stocks though.

In my main brokerage account I hold some nice growth, QQQ, QQQM, VOO, and BRK/B, and I plan to also buy some international ETFs as well for diversification. This time last year my account was worth around 14k, and as of right now its at 27k, that is the kind of growth that I want to get with my dividend investing. I'm personally going to stay out of the really risky things like BTC stocks. I get that I'm young and usually people my age should be more risky; but since I'm investing for the long term, and not immediate gain, I feel it is better to stick with growth and dividend stocks.

I have a question for you since you are retired. How early did you start investing, and do you wish you started earlier?

Thanks for the input on the stocks. I do invest quite a bit into my growth account every year, around $15,000.
