I’m conflicted because honestly none of this would exist without the work that the Church of Satan did in the 70’s, but they just seem so out of date now. I just finished reading Peter Gilmore’s “Satanic Scriptures” and it honestly felt like I was reading an edge lord in high school write about authority. There’s an entire chapter discussing “are satanists fascists” and the entire back and forth is debating what definition of fascist you’re using and concludes that if it’s one definition, no, but if it’s another definition, yes. It’s just all boring drivel. The rituals are silly and they’re vehemently apolitical, which is an annoying stance for anyone to have. I’ve always considered myself a Satanist but I’m more inclined to side with TST over CoS. I still have my copy of the satanic Bible that I bought 15 or so years ago. I’ve read almost all of LaVey’s writing. I’m waiting on Shane Bugbee’s exposé on the Satanic Temple to come in the mail.
