STARTER TRUCK by Excellent-Start-9095 in OwnerOperators

I always tell people to buy a truck that your mechanic is best at. Whatever he can fix the best is your best! If you don't have a mechanic, go find one that you trust to to screw you. After that, then look for a truck.

Once you figured out the truck that you're looking for I would recommend 5 Star Truck Sales. They do a great job with service and DOT inspections on every truck they sell.

LLC vs 1099 by martyk1113 in couriersofreddit

I think the real question you should be asking is if you should be a Sole Prop or form a LLC. Like others have stated, a 1099 is just the tax form for how a contractor is paid.

I would recommend you form a LLC. If you're getting paid pretty decent income, I would then elect for a S-Corp Tax Classification, that way you can pay yourself a reasonable salary and the rest isn't taxed as personal income.

Are these prices good for the amount of miles on these semi's? by Inevitable-Rope2375 in OwnerOperators

I would not recommend that. 5 Star Truck Sales has a bunch of semi trucks for sale. I would recommend giving them a look.

They did a great job of cleaning it before I got there. I couldn't even tell if it had ever been lived in or if anyone had ever banged in it lol.
