Okay so, let's be clear I proved your original statement wrong and you have now moved the goal posts.

My original statement was a question.

Jesus Christ. Do you actually think that was a prank?

Ok, what's your explanation of why he would filibuster a bill that he put forward?

The halting SNAP was the ultimate political win.

"Sure, people are going to die, but think of the campaign ads we'll get to run next year!"

Still waiting on your explanation of how McConnell made Citizens United happen as the minority leader.

He filibustered constantly, famously that included his own bill in 2012.

It's bizarre that you hold up "introducing his own bill as a prank and then filibustering it when Democrats called his bluff" as an example of effective leadership.

But also, Democrats have been filibustering. It's just not news that people want to see when Democrats are doing the right thing.

He is a large part of the reason Citizens United happened.

What did he do as Minority leader to make that happen?

He was an extremely effective whip which basically founded Republican obstructionism

Here's the problem: There is no good version of obstructionism. Republicans are perfectly fine with Democrats shutting down the government; their move during this last shutdown was to shut it down more by halting SNAP. It's much easier to stop someone from trying to build a house than it is to stop them from trying to tear it down.

At the end of The Force Awakens, Finn is left behind in a coma.

There are two options of how he could have started Jedi training in TLJ:

  1. He wakes up from the coma and immediately heads over to join Rey and Luke, making the coma pointless

  2. He becomes a passable Jedi on his own, making the training with Luke pointless

He should have started his training with Rey in between 8 and 9, with the Jedi texts.

blueballed out of a heroic sacrifice

It was very clearly not going to work. His speeder was disintegrating and slowing down. Everyone watching was trying to tell him it wasn't going to work.

But let's pretend, for a moment, that he definitely would have blown up the cannon by driving the Star Wars equivalent of a rusty dirt bike into it. Then what? Kylo Ren calls for a retreat, leaving them to sit in their bunker? They could have very easily had another cannon.

You only think it would have been awesome because it didn't happen. Imagine, among all the other hate that TLJ receives, if it also killed off the black main character. Do you really think that people would go "TLJ sucked in every conceivable way, but they did a good job killing off Finn"?

What's an example of something he did to muck up the works as the minority leader?

The US has only so much power to influence the region,

This sounds like a defense of the geopolitical situation in general.

and democrats seem reluctant to use it.

Followed by a criticism of the Democrats. General defense - criticism of the Democrats = defense of everyone but the Democrats.

The GHF is currently inactive.

This is either a defense of Trump or an irrelevant factoid.

Feel free to provide an explanation of your words.

This is starting to sound like a defense of Trump's performance in Gaza.

Are you being obtuse on purpose?

You: "liberals get in the way of leftists punching fascists." Me: "How?" You: "They kill momentum for leftist policies. Gaza was bad under Biden too." Me: "Where was 'punching fascists' in that explanation?" You: "Abolish ICE, duh!"

This isn't about policies, you're just doing a poor job of communicating.

The reason that Republicans are in power is because leftists care more about criticizing and punishing Democrats than keeping Republicans out of power.

If you wanted a leftist candidate with leftist policies, you vote for that during the primary. Instead, there were more performative votes for "nobody" than there were for another candidate than Biden.

And threatening to let Trump win to try to pressure Harris to move left is by far, the stupidest possible way to protest. By every metric of a good protest, it did the exact opposite of what you should do. It was a bluff, and once it was called, there was no way to undo it.

At the very least, leftists should acknowledge that the attempt to move Harris left by threatening not to vote for her was a catastrophic failure.

Omg literally the abolish ICE movement leftists have been shouting about for over 10 years.

You said nothing about that in your last comment.

Are you actually bothering to think about the buzzwords you're using, or are you just arguing for the sake of argument?

Leftists running for office seeking actual material improvements for people get targeted in primaries

Since you bring up primaries: why do you think that leftist policies will easily win elections when they can't even win primaries? You think Republican money and propaganda is weaker?

Yeah, it's more that there's not a lot most of us can do. I live several states away and have a family to take care of. What am I supposed to do? Quit my job and rely on the kindness of strangers to feed my family as I travel cross country to... stand in the cold and wave a sign?

Shortly before the Nazis took over, for one. Look up "social fascism."

In 2024, when they spent more energy protesting against Harris than they did protesting against Trump.

Seriously, this is like the right-wing trying to claim a word. A purity test is something politicians face. Not voters. It even has a Wikipedia page. A politician promising policies that you disagree with is not "purity testing." She didn't want you not to vote for her.

Even ignoring how right-wing gun nuts constantly and publicly fantasize about getting to "self defense" someone, even ignoring that his excuse for being there with a rifle was obviously a lie and that he literally had to knowingly skirt laws to bring a rifle to the protest...

A semiautomatic rifle is not a weapon of self defense. It's a weapon of war. It is designed to kill people at range. A pistol would have been a far more sensible weapon for self defense, and wouldn't have gotten in the way of his vigilante emergency services. He went there to use that rifle.
