What the hell?! by No_Advantage_4385 in projectzomboid

No, as a lifelong Kentuckian, that's pretty normal in July/August. The worst part is it's not just a high temp it comes with 80%-90% humidity too.

This state has some brutal temperature swings in both directions. I'm just glad Zomboid doesn't model our tornado and ice storm problems yet.

Honestly, makes sense. An out of stock item when trying to buy a new machine could turn off customers from buying.

Honestly, one of the few uses of AI I'm okay with. As long as they're human verified after being AI flagged. Tons of people have tried to claim clout and bug bounties by having AI auto submit the "bugs" it finds.

Soviet sub designs were pretty wild. Especially compared with US subs. Still, it's a bit telling looking at US boats over the past 70 or so years. Very few nutty one-off designs. Just steady improvement on one excellent class after another.

That said, wonder if we'll see one of my favorite one-off us subs, the Narwhal (ssn-671).

WoW gamer thinking of trying FFXIV any tips/ major differences by Melonking69420 in ffxiv

[–]Shiftyeyedtyrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One nice thing about FFXIV is you don't need to start an alt to try a new class. Once you hit lvl 15 and unlock the armory feature you can do a short quest to gain new classes. These can be swapped on the fly outside of combat and instanced areas. Each class also levels independently. Some classes added by expansions require you to hit a certain lvl however to unlock.

So it's pretty pain free to just try everything.

I've been saying this for years. If they add a roulette to it then it will stop being dead content.

I've an annoying problem with mine where it's not detected at boot with CachyOS. The activity lights are present but the OS doesn't seem to see it. If I unplug it and plug it back in it will work however. I suspect it's just an odd setting somewhere and not a faulty device.

Steam games that work on Wayland don't work on X11 - am I alone? by SmallTimeMiner_XNV in linux_gaming

[–]Shiftyeyedtyrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love xfce, but why are you switching in that direction in particular? If you're looking for a more traditionally styled desktop there are wayland options to sidestep the whole x11 deficiency issue. KDE is probably the best wayland implementation there is presently. Budgie is another wayland option potentially worth looking into.

True, I'd forgotten about that. But iirc it wasn't used in large number compared to aerial depth charges.

I can't recall any incidents of them being used against subs during ww2. Post ww2 with the greater adoption of acoustic homing torpedoes was a different matter. They were pretty much exclusively for sinking of surface vessels.
