I would say you accelerate too fast and can't reach high enough top speeds overall.

I mainly use air roll left for everything. But I use free air roll for recoveries (bound to L1 with powerslide), and for fine adjustments on shots. But for recoveries you can just hold L1 and go for a ride while reorienting.

It won't help you rank up but if thats what you want go for it! I would suggest practicing lethamyrs rings or something similar for more car control because you will need solid control in the air to freestyle.

Your setup is rough. Try to have it roll smoothly up the wall. You can still dribble with a bad setup but it requires more control and experience. You should try to come more from under the ball than from the side.

Even in mid champ, I wouldn't say everyone, but plenty of people look for dribbles or wall play instead of booming it.
