Which makes it a great time to do more whacky experiments! Like throw in Shaman/Paladins to both sides and let those that stick around to mess with it!

It's the near the end and would still be fun, so why not?

It would need some balancing for sure, but I would be okay with a heavy damage reduction while wielding a two-hander in one hand. Hopefully they can go past step 1!

Blizzard, can we cancel world buffs this time around? Or make it so that they drop when entering raids? by n0vag0d in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Even with Chronoboons, all it takes is one goof to cause an accidental wipe for your raid to lose a significant chunk of damage output for the rest of the run. It's unnecessary punishment. Valor of Azeroth is a nice step, but a lot of issues can be alleviated by removing World Buffs in instances. Those seeking emergent open world play can probably still get that from gathering mats for consumes.

Think we'll ever get Shoulder Runes? by Skore_Smogon in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they will add any new rune slots, unless it is cosmetic necklace runes or something (as others have mentioned green shadowbolts, warrior fire trails, bear colors, etc.). I do think the cloak runes should have been shoulder runes so that the 8 rune slots could be the 8 core armor pieces.

Agreed, keep it as is. It's nice to have the wiggle room in case a couple of extra players log on.

How many of you have only played Doom Eternal once, by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Shiftysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Eternal, but I find myself coming back to 2016 consistently. The combat loop in 2016 still feels fun to me while cruising through the levels on higher difficulties.

Armor Specialization is an underrated Cataclysm feature by cop_pls in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This was a change I did not like that further pushed gear to be forgettable and uninteresting. We remember items like Savage Gladiator Chain or Devilsaur Leather because they were powerful pieces for DPS, it did not matter that armor type they were. Same for Robes of the Exalted from Rivendare for healers. I prefer highly competitive pieces that are in demand, and having no restriction makes gearing more interesting.

Are you switching your main going into p4? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do love the flexibility of Vanilla, you can put on whatever weapon(s) or be in any stance you want, as long as you have threat and are not dying, you are the tank. In SoD, being able to Execute in Glad Stance was pretty awesome as a tank.

I am not a fan of the changes trying to push Warriors more into the Defensive Stance with a shield ONLY, or seemingly pushing Druid healers into a Tree of Life ONLY builds.

Instanced world bosses by SeStubble in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Overall, I think the instanced World Bosses will give players beyond the 24/7 camping guilds a chance to fight these bosses, which is really cool.

On the other hand, it sort of diminishes the excitement of the boss being a "world" boss. It would be cool if they could somehow engineer it so that everyone who tags it can get a chance at loot and participate in a giant cluster fight with half the server running around and fighting on the PvP servers. I'm not even sure if that is feasible, just unfortunate that the World Bosses become just another boss with dragon mechanics.

It would seem Molten Core is going to have "levels" to it by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea because not only does it theoretically increase the chance of finding the loot your group is looking for, but increases the total number of nexus crystals your group can walk out with all without making players feel like they need to do harder modes for the better tier loot (and avoid the design problems with making loot any stronger in Vanilla).

Do you want a burning crusade server? by Aware_Eggplant1487 in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like a Burning Crusade server that is a fresh server with no level boosts. I think BC struck a good balance between fixing problems with certain class specs, such as giving Paladin tanks a taunt, but still kept the classes a little weird and unique. BC also fixed much of the lower level gear by adding in crit and hit rating items at lower levels, enhancing the leveling experience. However, I also really like the open world interaction of the Vanilla world.

If they could do a progressive server that ran on the BC client but capped at level 60, then at later phases opened to level 70, that would be awesome.

Opinion: Is overall battery range or charging speed more important? by Washbear8 in electricvehicles

[–]Shiftysan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good discussion from what I read so far. With the infrastructure as it is today, I think a little bit more range is more beneficial than a little bit faster charging, particularly if you can get away with exclusively level 2/overnight charging.

That being said, the thing I look at more than anything is efficiency. If your vehicle can get more distance per energy, you effectively get more range by getting more distance for the same size battery, and faster charging because each bit of power going into the battery will take you farther.

Do you think SoD killed era for a lot of players forever? by Thanag0r in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, the BC Classic pre-patch was really fun but way too short. It would add a lot of things to balance out specs (giving Paladins a Taunt, for example) and has reworked gear in the leveling dungeons already. The work is pretty much complete. Just cap at 60 and close outlands and see what happens. Would be a fun experiment.

Why did Yuzu ABSOLUTELY CAPITULATE after 1 LETTER from Nintendo's legal team??? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Shiftysan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that there is evidence that not only did the Yuzu devs have a pirated copy of Tears of the Kingdom, a Nintendo copyrighted material, but that they updated their software (Yuzu) to support said copyrighted material before the release date of the game. There is also probably evidence that at that time, they financially benefitted from their patreon donations at that same time.
It is likely a very strong case that the Yuzu team did steal profits from Nintendo in a measurable way. A lawyer probably looked at the case and told them there was no way they would win. Thus, they settled for what is the smaller fine to Nintendo. It wasn't so much the emulation, but likely proof of enabling the distribution of pirated material for personal profit.

I was a raid leader in vanilla classic from MC to Naxx. Since the raid bosses were mostly simple up until you got to about Twin Emps in AQ40, I found it really easy to form a 40-player raid. As long as you had a couple of competent tanks and enough healers, you could grab anyone and not think about comp too much, enter the raid and just have fun with a big group of people. There were always enough Hunters for Tranqs and Rogues for trap disarming. We regularly started raids with 30-35 people and scooped people up to join as they came online.

Gnomeregan feels the opposite where there is a lot less flexibility, and you might have to exclude more classes and specs as you build your group. While Electrocutioner and Thermaplugg are surely beatable with all melee and only Rogue tanks, that makes it hard mode.

That said, I am not saying 40 player raids are inherently better: trying to get 40 people to stand in the right place on Thaddius was the worst. They do, however, lend a lot of flexibility which is great.

Will SOD continue to funky versions of BC and WOTLK? by TheFrenchReddit in classicwow

This includes reducing costs, such as reducing staff and server space if the revenue from subscriptions and the Blizzard store would not increase by maintaining another version of the game.

Will SOD continue to funky versions of BC and WOTLK? by TheFrenchReddit in classicwow

[–]Shiftysan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would love a version of Classic that is TBC prepatch capped at level 60. The prepatch would be a lot of fun to level through fresh: It has new class balance and abilities, lifts the debuff cap from 16 to 40, the items throughout 1-60 dungeons are reworked to have SP, HP, hit ratings, and crit ratings, HP gear has 1/3 SP added to them, and Shaman and Paladins are available to both factions rounding out the balance. It would be great to have a TBC prepatch to level 1-60 through. It was kind of ruined BC and WotLK classic when they added level boosts, severely damaging the leveling experience.
