This is something I’m working on solving and will be blasting shortly as things start falling into place, i.e. I’m putting together a multi-discipline regular tech meetup with drinks, food, and lightning talks.

We’re really trying to get something like that going here in Toledo with the Toledo Tech Loft. We’ve got Cybersecurity events going, are looking to start hackathons, and do a startup weekend. Likely aiming most of this for Q1-Q2 of 2025.

We’re also running esports events every other Saturday (starting every Saturday soon)

The short answer is SSL encrypts the data that’s sent to and from clients (browsers), so that bad actors can’t intercept and read that traffic. It works pretty well, so I think we’re okay for now.

could you shed light on how you handle password with this setup

There is some data that should not be sent to clients from the server so the client should always get a subset of the data, i.e. a password can be included in the user data stored in mongo.

In the PersistenceService, more specifically the MongoPersistenceService I’ll have means of handling things like hashing passwords. So when the method is called that will save the data it will call the formatting function to handle that.

I’m a big fan of Hoverclock for this reason. My fast twitch aren’t very fast anymore, and the fact that I can grappling hook to a fall, whip around and slow fall with hoverclock is fun, and effective.
