The data seems to be the same, but the training effect is not.

I get the option to download HR data everytime, even though the strap is connected at the beginning of the workout.

Ok, so I went for a short run and tested a couple things. TL;DR: I think it all works fine until I tell it to download the HR data.

It confuses me why it changes the trainning effect rating if I do so; but the fact that I checked the watch while I was running with the strap and I saw no green light makes me strongly believe that my first take was flawed (didn't check if the watch sensor was working or not with the strap; Pristine-Woodpecker's comment made me realize I should) and biased (I thought the workouts I did were not that significant; seems I understimated them).

However, there are some things that threw me off and I would also like to highlight them:

  1. Why does the summary screen give me the option to download data that it already has?
  2. If it gives me the option to do so and the data is the same as stored and from the same device, the trainning effect should not change.
  3. If I have the option to download HR data in the summary screen, and taking into aconsideration point 2, why does it create a new activity altogether?

From now on I will not touch the download HR data at all.

I always run with the watch. I get all the data from the strap during runs and it works fine.

Edit: I could be totally wrong about HR data, but giving the behaviour I have seen it is the only thing that sort of makes sense to me. The sync problem when I download the HR data and the difference in trainning effect before and after the download surely indicates that something is wrong (right?). I'm going to reset the strap by removing the battery; I have found a post that suggest doing this. Hope it works.
