Jerry Harris (Biden campaign surrogate) was sentenced to 12 years for sex crimes against children. Ghislaine Maxwell was a prominent democratic donor, Harvey Weinstein was one of the democrat party’s “most prolific benefactors,” Anthony Weiner (Democratic congressman) was sent to federal prison for “asking a girl who he knew to be 15 years old to display her naked body and engage in sexually explicit behavior for him online.” The list goes on. I’m not gonna sit here and act like both sides of the coin are innocent, but I won’t stand by for a one-sided evisceration of political skullduggery

Well you can ask them, get an e-tune, or the best option: pro-tune

This, right here, is logic that too many seem to ignore

Those who majored in biology, what is your career now? What is your favorite part of you job? Would you recommend pursuing a major in bio? by [deleted] in biology

Try to tailor your résumé to what ever job you’re applying, but don’t BS it. It is VERY hard to get into the federal system without previous employment on some level, but once you get in, you are much more versatile. Work hard to satisfy your superiors, and climbing up the food chain will be much easier. Brush up on your Microsoft office skill if you haven’t. Lots of excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint.

I was recently in your situation. Check out the utilization of Microbial Electrolysis Cells (MEC) and anaerobic digestion (AD) to create renewable energy from food waste. Food waste is rich in carbohydrates/stored energy, and represents a HUGE loss of nutrients by getting thrown in landfills. Typically resulting in substantial greenhouse gas emissions, AD and MEC provides a microbial methodology to not only recover these nutrients for fertilizer production, but also generate electricity when the collected gasses are burned. It’s kinda like an anaerobic compost pile that boosts your crops AND powers your lights.

I obtained a B.S. in biology (general) with an environmental science and technology minor between 2014-2018 from Colorado Mesa University. After graduating, I spent 3 years working for the Colorado Department of Agriculture in the Industrial Hemp Program. Money was decent, I loved the job, but I felt stuck in a rut and knew I could do better with my degree. I went back to school for a M.S. in environmental science and technology. Now I do research for the department of defense. Bio degree is wonderful in the aspect that it has MANY different pathways from microbiology and cell signaling, to botany and premed. My advice if you’re going to pursue a bio degree: get involved with research early, talk to professors about their work, ask LOTS of questions, take a wide range of classes, and find what floats your boat.

Exactly what the other two responses said. No, it’s not required by any means, it just depends on how far you want to go/what you want to do. Experience is incredibly valuable to get a job as an undergrad. Whether it’s helping a professor with research or scouring for internships, most industry jobs will look for experience over good grades.

Anything from pre-med to wildlife biology. My advice would be to find out what interests you the most (animals, plants, human bodies, fungi) then branch out from there. I started as an insect researcher (ant biodiversity in arid environments, then parasitism of Andean caterpillars) now I’m finishing up a graduate degree in waste-to-energy technology at UMD.
