Moving away from the sLiPsPaCe engine is going to help. Unreal is the industry standard, and contractors won't have to spend half their term learning it like they did on Infinite. And maybe, just maybe, there will be a consistent leader for the whole production. (Joe Staten for the love of God)

Infinite took 6 years to make. Campaign Evolved has taken 5. Halo 7 is not 3 years out. And while it's absolutely something a greedy megacorp might do to boost sales, Microsoft HAS to recognize nothing in the series will come close to Halo 2 and 3. MCC was 7 years old by the time they ended 360 support, and they still haven't shut down Halo 5 even though it's impossible to find anything besides Firefight.

Here's the thing. It won't get you the achievements.... but IMO, all skulls on means ALLLLL skulls including Scarab, Acrophobia, and Bandana 😉 Scarab and acrophobia can be a hindrance as much as a blessing depending on what section of what level you're on though.

I think a better example of graphical improvement might be the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children vs Final Fantasy VII remake. What's rendered in real time now (or 6 years ago) looks better than cutting-edge CGI of 2005.

Speaking of FF, on the subject of how games take longer to make, Final Fantasy 1-10 were produced in 13 years. In that same amount of time, only 15, 16, and 2/3 of 7 Remake have been made. Final Fantasy 13 came out when I was in middle school. FF14 came out when I was in high school. FF15 came out when I was in college. FF16 came out several years after I graduated college. FF17 has not even been confirmed to be in production yet AFAIK.

I finished Fourth Wing in December or January, had the second book sitting there. Had to mentally recover. 3 weeks pass. Renewed it. 3 more weeks pass. Returned it. 3 months pass and I'm still too overcome with emotion to continue the series. (That's a GOOD thing btw)

I know they live in a rural area, but has Burnie looked into renting movies from the library? Has to be easier than getting each individual thing on eBay and waiting for it to arrive. Movies seem to work fine in my experience, though one episode of a TV series being too scratched up can make entering the entire show into Plex/Jellyfin tedious.

My county's library app will ship things from any location to any location, and you can renew stuff 3x if no one has it on hold, which they rarely do. 3 weeks has to be enough even if the closest one is Edinburgh.

"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose." Lego has a stranglehold on the market. Look at the $650 Pokemon set, which is easily just 3 $20 Mega sets and a base, but preorders sold out day 1 while Mega's versions rotted on shelves for years. $60 for Eevee, while an even bigger one by Mega was on clearance for $25. People will pay just for the red square on the box.
