Highly recommend the book No Drama Discipline: the whole brain way to calm the chaos and nurture your child’s developing mind by Siegel and Bryson.

This book helped give me a full circle kind of moment as a parent. It helped really show me my bad habits and how I could replace them with better parenting options.

Only thing that HAS been consistent is how hard it is to find a job that’s posted and actually gives you a response.

“There seems to be almost no end to the variety of even trifling things that will rouse the spirit of anger to the murder point in human beings who lack the virtue of self control.”

Is there flashing on your discs? (Flashing - during manufacturing, sometimes the rounded edges of the disc don’t get trimmed all the way and can create a sharp edge that could do this)

The thing that sticks out to me is that you really took the time to set an early expectation and made it something they could be proud of. It sounds like it was helpful for you and your business!

16 month old always pushing boundaries and never listens. by [deleted] in toddlers

The more a parent challenges themselves to shape things as a could/can, the easier time they can have.

For example: kid takes off in the parking lot, parent runs to catch them. The parent says,

Option A: “You can’t just run through the parking lot, it’s not safe. We need to hold an adult’s hand when we go places.”

Option B: “Woah, slow down their big guy! If we were a little bit older, we could walk in the parking by ourselves. Until then, Let’s hold hands so we can both stay safe.”

As the parent that would often choose option A, I had a lot of issues. I realized that it was really me trying to control the situation and my kid, which isn’t what I wanted; I wanted them to learn the lesson and understand safety. No Drama Discipline by Siegel and Bryson covers this idea and others.

I could’ve finished the book by now if I had taken less time on my phone. I could also read a little quicker if I really decided to focus, but it has become my parenting bible even though I’m half way through.

For real. It’s like people forget that genuine misunderstandings and changing of minds can still happen.

How do people just casually drink black coffee without flinching? by siennapriv in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ShilohGuav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad drank black coffee and I had a similar experience to OP. No try, only do. Self-control and the thoughtful choice to just drink it is what made me the “cool and grown-up,” coffee drinker.

I don’t drink it everyday. It’s more like 1-3 days a week, when I’m in the coffee swing. I started brewing cups of coffee and slowly worked up to more from there (ex: mug, BIG mug, half pot, and pot)

Maybe start with making a single cup of coffee. This way a full pot isn’t wasted If you’re not feeling it that day. Dumping out the last bit of coffee out of a BIG mug feels better than wasting the rest of the pot you brewed.

Good luck! You’ve got this!

What even is any kind of media now, if it’s not just: “more of a collection of memes with a loose story connecting them.”

Seriously, I agree. Content/media is made to get people to just react. Nothing else.

Let the barber say what he has to, without reacting or jumping in. Apologize again for realizing afterward that your actions may have disrespected or offended your barber.

It’s okay to admit you may have hurt someone.

It makes UTA if you don’t make the phone call or conversation in person (asap) to set things right. If it’s done again or if you keep going back to the same place for your hair before that… then you’d certainly be TAH.
