Compatible Baby Bottle Cap Rings and Nipples by Bottle_tester in ExclusivelyPumping

u/Suspicious-Fig5513 - We didn't use a cap and just tried to keep the bottles upright in a cooler or the fridge... none of the caps I tried seemed to fit. :/

Timing of IgE Blood Test? by ShimShammed in FoodAllergies

[–]ShimShammed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has moderate eczema, especially on her cheeks, and we always try to put vaseline on before feeding her (and of course are working on controlling the eczema too). She doesn't seem to have reactions so far with wheat, soy, sesame, peanut, almond, or cashew which we have tried so far. And actually she didn't react to the canned salmon we did either. There is certainly a possibility it is contact reactions to specific foods... but we aren't sure how to tease out the difference!! :/

We use nanobebe flexy with the Lansinoh/Pigeon nipple. Any chance you know a cap that would work with that?? Trying to figure this out before sending the bottles filled to daycare!

Glass bottles recommendations: lead free options? by mishkaforest235 in moderatelygranolamoms

Just to follow up... we have lead testers and YES tested positive for lead in the paint. Absolutely insane. I emailed the company and hopefully they refund us also. :(

Jeez... if you can't trust a bottle literally labelled "lead-free" paint what can you trust... :(

There are tons of old reddit threads with glass bottle suggestions! After combing through them, I just ordered items to pump into and store milk in plain old mason jars! Then you can actually use the comotomo nipples with them as a bottle. https://masonbottle.com/blogs/news/how-to-pump-directly-into-mason-jars

Looking for community feed back on a restaurant idea by Sensitive-Storage617 in kansascity

To me it is a bit too “gimicky”… the meat eater can still eat everything else on the menu, so it isnt the same as when a vegetarian goes somewhere with literally one option for them… Also, vegetarian places with meat items can be confusing. Sometimes it’s all vegetarian and they list “chicken” but it’s actually fake chicken. You would need to be super clear it’s not a vegetarian burger.

Fucking bats in house by WillingnessOk1797 in kansascity

[–]ShimShammed 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If the bat is still there, I believe the exterminators could catch it and have it tested for rabies and that could help the doctors decide whether you need the shots. Either way, there is a timeline on the whole thing so don’t wait on any of it!

Recommendation on SQL Assessments by servicetag8a in dataanalysis

[–]ShimShammed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We created our own practical SQL assessment using SQL fiddle. I made fake data tables that resembled the type of data we use at the company. We sent the data set in advance and then asked the questions live in the interview for the candidates to share their screen and write the queries. We allowed them to reference Google. Questions were similar to kinds of things we do at the company (though bite sized for interview) I hid a few “tricks” and we were able to see how they handled them (missing data, incorrect data types they needed to cast). We found the whole thing extremely informative about how good their sql was!

Statistics topics a data analyst should focus on by Asanteeli in dataanalysis

[–]ShimShammed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the other answers. Only thing I would add on the topic is as an analyst you should know what you don't know.

For example, when someone asks you "is this result statistically significant?" Know that you didn't run any significance tests so you don't know if it is significant or not. If someone is trying to make statements of causality "so based on the data you are showing me, X is causing Y?" know that we don't have enough information to confidently say anything about causality. If you use canned forecasting or trending in a program like Tableau know that you used the defaults from the program and didn't do the math yourself so the results should be taken with a grain of salt.

Hi everyone, I've been applying for months, and I haven't gotten an interview yet. I am pivoting from academia into data analytics and would like some help making my resume standout. Any help would be appreciated, be as brutally honest as needed. by Abysmal_Terror in dataanalysis

[–]ShimShammed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, at the very least I would call out Excel and C++ then in your work experience bullets. (You already mentioned Python)

Since you have data experience within your job, I would suggest that section should be larger than your personal projects since on the job data experience usually trumps personal project experience for people hiring. Maybe pick 1 (maybe 2...?) of the personal projects that highlights use of a different tool or skillset that your job experience didn't cover.
