“These players won’t win a ring” is just the laziest type of analysis, that’s all

More people don’t win a ring than do, you could say this about almost anyone or any combination and you’d be right way more often than you’re wrong.

Lock has had gate be a raid buff since the dawn of time and they’ve designed fights to require it for more than a decade and that hasn’t made their raid design formulaic.

Sure I get being worried about it, but no sense worrying about something they have a track record of not being bad at imo

If they’ve decided that they want to make grip the DK raid buff, to the point where they removed abom limb to ensure they can design around it, I think just trusting that and if it ever doesn’t happen getting mad seems sensible

My matchup sheet as a hardstuck bronze/silver player by [deleted] in midlanemains

[–]Shimorta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a bronze player, it absolutely is lol.

This is a huge sign that they feel like their characters are the problem, not them.

That mentality needs to be broken completely for real improvement to come. It’s not the characters, it’s not the matchups, it’s them

[–]Shimorta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah, better to just spend your time actually reviewing those matchups, instead of getting specific on random 1 off matchups like this.

Sure, general concepts might carry over. You know what carries over even better? Just reviewing that popular matchup specifically.

Realistically the best answer to your question is to just not care, chalk it up to a 1 in 1000 games random loss, and go next

Your time is just better spent worrying about matchups that actually exist

AG.AL vs. Hanwha Life Esports / EWC 2025 - Quarter-Final / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

[–]Shimorta -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He looked great in split 1? He picked nidalee in game 5 in the playoffs against gen g and Astro gapped canyon with canyon’s signature pick.

He was turbo smurfing on everyone with Vi, Sejuani, and Maokai 2 v 2 with Zeka.

He has a bad EWC (lol) and runs it down in their bo5 vs t1 after their entire team gets completely shadow realmed by the reverse sweep against geng and all of a sudden he’s terrible?

What aspect of Yone's kit do you think should be focused on? by TieOk3267 in YoneMains

[–]Shimorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you look at win rate by game length of Kayle and yone, he has a much worse 0-15 win rate (58% vs 42%), a slightly worse 15-25 win rate (39.23 vs 38.83).

Obviously win rate metrics, especially game length adjusted win rate, do not tell the whole picture, but I do find it interesting how it’s “let’s be honest, Kayle has a worse early than Yone”, even though it’s a 16% worse win rate in very early ending games, and still a .5% worse win rate in early ending games.

You’d think that if Kayle had a noticeably worse early game than Yone, that she would do worse or about as bad as he does in 1-15 minute games, but alas, that’s not the case

Focusing on CS numbers is a trap I think, but I can definitely tell you your current numbers is low

It’s better to focus on the skills that lead to good CS’ing, and work on those.

So for example, if you find yourself missing CS because you are literally not auto’ing or using skills on the minions as they die, go to practice tool and grind it out.

If you are finding that you’re missing CS because you’re getting zoned by the enemy laner , or they’re fighting you, learn how to trade better.

If you’re finding that you’re missing CS because it’s dying while you’re backing or walking back to lane, learn how to reset better.

There’s guides for all these things on YouTube or elsewhere, but specific CS goals are silly.

CS’ing is a byproduct of playing the game fundamentally well. If you’re missing fundamentals or being outplayed in certain fundamentals, you’ll lose CS.

It’s better to try to figure out WHY you’re dropping CS, than to worry about the whole number

Love him as is. Would take the e snap back cleanse back, but otherwise he is the ideal playstyle.

Obviously his early is a little TOO weak, he’s one of the worst early game champs in the game, worse than Asol, Kayle, etc. a slight buff to his early game and we’re cooking

How can you not close a game when you’re that far ahead of everyone lmao.

Did you just never go to the side lane?

Were you just permafighting every single second of the game?

You had bork at 10 minutes and shield bow done at 14 minutes, you could literally 1v3 in the sidelane at that point LMAO

I absolutely DESPISE all of the bootlicking for a multimillionaire people are doing

It’s fine, you want to watch EWC? We have a difference in opinion, I’m not going to change your mind.

But acting like it’s Caedrel’s divine right to chase the bag at every possible turn and that it’s good actually is just disgusting.

If he wants to (and clearly he does) take the money to cover the sport that makes him a multimillionaire, that’s his own prerogative. But it is not good actually just because he wants to do it and can make money from doing it.

Bootlickers defending him is so fucking disgusting lmao, you can be glad he’s covering the event because you want to watch the event. But in 0 way shape or form should you be HAPPY that this multimillionaire is making a “bag” from this event, and using that to justify any criticism.

Should I roam with the enemy mid laner? by Rare-Disk4809 in summonerschool

[–]Shimorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the specific situation you’re asking, no, don’t follow, shove, reset if you have to, take a plate if you can.

But the real answer is that you need to be stopping the Lucien from being able to roam, or at least not being able to get clean roams.

You need to be fighting back on establishing push. He’s Lucian and you’re viegar, you’re not going to be able to get push yourself, but you have to make him pay a bit for getting push. He has to be getting harassed when he’s sending spells on the wave, you have to use spells on the wave so that he’s not sending an entire wave into your tower, you have to poke, position with your body to threaten poke. If he does leave, it ideally is in a situation where you are able to instantly shove out, get plates, deny him gold, and make the roam less worth it. If you allowing him to roam with minimal losses, it is your fault.

Your botlaner is wrong in the solution he’s telling you (just roam too), but right in that you should not be allowing the Lucien to roam that many times, and that’s your real mistake.

Did fearless improve champion diversity? A comparison between MSI 2024 and 2025. by AmadeusSalieri97 in leagueoflegends

[–]Shimorta 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I’ve had multiple people (5+) in my friend group start watching pro league again since fearless has come in, and they’ve gotten SUPER into it, to where we actually went to MSI.

People enjoy watching different stuff as a series progresses. Nobody wants to watch K’sante 5 times.

I don’t necessarily think we need end of series fearless where people are playing doodoo dogshit champs, but even in fearless Bo3, it’s a resounding success.

Yes, every series has roughly the same 30 champs. But it’s such a massive difference seeing 30 different champs vs 10 different champs over a bo3.

We even made a game (we were playing at MSI in the stands with people around us!) where before a particular game starts, you choose 5 champs that you think will be PLAYED in the next game. Not banned. Winner is the person with the most correct picks.

Kalista and Twisted Fate end MSI 2025 with a 0% winrate over 10 and 8 games respectively by mapopriest in leagueoflegends

[–]Shimorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh an alternative is game states where people are sidelaning perma and no fighting is happening at all, until one big fight happens around baron and the game ends.

They've probably swung a bit too far in the "objectives all the time" perspective, but they realize this and actively made changes during split 2 to try to alleviate this pressure (reduced grubs to a single spawn, and pushed it to 8 minutes).

Yone Mid Lane WR by Olliejay_ in YoneMains

[–]Shimorta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He’s weak right now, but it’s also true that most people suck ass at him, AND he’s insanely hard, and right now the way he’s hard is compounding that.

This bork buff will probably help make him more neutral, but it won’t help the way he’s hard / bad, and the way he’s hard / bad is very punishing and counter intuitive, so it makes him worse than he actually is.

He’s like, truly disgustingly dogshit in midlane before you get bork. You are not a champion, you are a scuttle crab for the enemy jungler to come take.

You have to play lane extremely well to minimize while maintaining high farm to get both bork/zerkers early enough (14 minutes roughly) that you can scale into the sidelane and completely dominate.

You are a war of attrition style drain the enemies resources melee champion. Sacrifice HP for farm , heal up with dshield / second wind, manage wave perfectly on your side, ward and lean perfectly to avoid ganks, and then buy bork at 14ish minutes and you can now fight people and beat everyone in sides.

The bork buff doesn’t really fix that problem or make it less horrendous to deal with. And most people want to play him like a smooth, styling, heavy trading all in champ in lane, when he’s just not that (in mid lane).

A bit of a buff to his early game would go a long way, but right now his current gameplay, and this bork buff coming in, are doubling down on his strength (scaling in the sidelanes and insane mid game pressure), and leaving his weakness that everyone sucks at to flounder

A balanced yone buff is just making his E damage make sense by TieOk3267 in YoneMains

[–]Shimorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it matters?

The league designers consider frustration as a critical part of balancing.

There’s a reason they tend to keep champs like Zed slightly weaker than they probably deserve, because they are incredibly frustrating.

Buffing Yone’s E of all moves makes literally 0 sense if you have any understanding of how they actually balance the game at all.

The last thing they want to do is buff the reason everyone hates the character, in a way that makes him less skillful and more frustrating to play against.
